Ok, I got sick of smashing my tail lights so I made a rear bar that should do the job.

Started with 150x50x5 RHS

Attached to the original bar mounting with 75x50x6 RHS and 5mm plate

Made some cuts and put a bend to make it look in line

Cut the end off and welded the side protection on

Painted satin black

I painted it so I could use it. I need to finish of grinding the welds and put some end plates on. I am thinking of making a taper at each end. From the bracket to the end. So the ends are only 100mm. Like you see on alot of bars.

That should work. The ends on my bumper stick out like that too, but it is not finished either.

Maybe I missed it, but make sure you tie the bumper into the uni-body via a strap perpendicular to the bumper. Either that or make sure you don't use it go tow, or be recovered. Those eight bolts will rip right out. :bang:

Agreed Muddy, but my bar is only for body and tail light protection. I have the tow bar for recovery.

Yeah I dont like the ends. Im leaving it like that while i decide. At least the lights will be safe that way. Lol

Understood. Many people make the mistake, as would I if Mark from DETOURS hadn't have told me, that those 8 bolts will hold the bumper on.

x 2 on should work.
Also make some brackets to tie it into the nut rail that is used for a hitch.

Already have a hitch. So I guess that is out?

Not really. Depending on how handy you are, you can use some square tubing to become the nut strip by cutting part of the top of it off and welding nuts on the bottom. Then you would slip them inside the frame rail and then bolt your hitch on like you would normally do.

not to shappy, I like how you cut and bent it in for the body lines. I just got done with my bumper and I did the same thing it was a lot of work just for about a half inch bend but looks good.
