I have always used 80% Craftsman tools, all my hand tools and some of the other also. The only thing I was lacking was a good set of deep well 1/2" drive Impact sockets. So I was at Harbor Freight a while back and I picked up on a set of Pittsburgh brand (the hand tool brand they carrie) impact sockets SAE & metric for $20 buck a set and they come in a steel case. They have been the best set of sockets I have bought in a long time they are chrome vanadium and they have been beaten, torched, hammered, slammed and they still fit tightly on bolts and have never striped one yet. I Love them and would not trade them for any other brand i the world. I do not know about any of the other tools the company makes but those sockets or the shit.

I have a quite a few HF tools. They are great for things that dont require precision.

Hammers?? HF ones work just fine.

But torque wrenches?? Not on your life.

HAHHAA! I got a Craftsman 1/2" drive 18" Torque wrench that I have had forever, but I need a smaller one from time to time and I was going to get the 3/8" one from HF cause they sent me a coupon making it like $11 Bucks. Now I am scared! Did you have a issue with their T wrenches before?

I have used the HF T-wrenches and they are OK as long as within a few pounds is close enough. The further up the pound scale you go the further off tolerences they seem to be compared to the Snap-On ones I have used in the past. Still a great buy for the price.

Yes....

Long story.. but... Was helping my BIL put his turbo Rustang back together. We were putting the head back on. I got called away.. told him how to finish it and how to loosen the torque up on my Snap-On torque wrench before putting it away. He didn't. Put it in the case and left it locked down. I didnt think to check it and it sat that way for a month till we could get back to the Stang. Well it wouldnt release then. It was a Sunday afternoon and he really wanted to finish the job. So he went to HF and bought one of their 1/2 clicker torque wrenches. I finished torqueing the head and checked all the one we had previously done. Put the stang together the rest of the way. A few weeks later he gets into burn-out box.. and blows the head gasket out... When we went to take it back apart. All of the bolts torqued with the HF wrench were loose compared to the ones done with the Snap-on wrench.

So now for me.. If I need another torque wrench..it will be another Snap-on or most likely a Crafstman. I dont have a Snap-On budget for tools these days.

My Snap-On TW was stolen last November during a breakin to my shop along with several other good tools. I still have my German un-named torque wrench which reads in ft/lbs or N/mts or Bars(I think) but it is hard to set and is shorter thus being harder to reach higher settings without additional muscles. Want a Matco one but need a few hundred bucks for that. It is electronic!

The electronic ones are nice. I have an ordinary TW from napa. I've used it on and off for four years now. I think it may need re calibrated soon.

I also have that same socket set from HF. It's all black right? Those things are beefy. I use em with my impact and sometimes regular socket wrench. I need to get myself a metric set though. My gf bought me the SAE set, she didn't know jeeps were mostly metric.

I think i have this:

or maybe this:

My HB impact gun is starting to show signs of wear. It's worked well for three years, above my expectations.

All came in metal boxes and are super strong. I use a Craftsman air Impact with them with no problems. They also carry a lifetime warranty.
