Wayne it seems that you fellas over there in NZ aint afraid of getting DEEEEEP in the water... MY question alone is what modifications were made to your vehicle to protect it?
I know the snorkel... but Im more curious about electrical... Ive been in water that was over the center console... trust me not by choice... plus it damn near claimed my motor.
but Im curious about the fuse panel under the dash on OUR driver side... not sure if yours is on the same side or if its under YOUR drivers side...
Next is the stinking alternator... I went through too much water a few months back and ended having to replace the alt on the side of the road... hows that protected?
and lastly what u-joints are you running? i hear that LOTS of folks gotta replace those every few weeks of water runs...
Im interested in these opportunities and Ive always wanted to be the guy that can get through EVERYTHING!
help a whitey out ay...

Alright a deep water thread... such is my forte. I'm working on a full wire seal/tuck for mine. As well as relocating the battery and fuse box. Still haven't gotten as far as figuring out the alternator situation, as I'm on my 3rd one. For u joints, spicer makes good ones, talk to them about the water.

how deep ya wanna go....yep snorkel first....never had a problem with alt,,,find the mud kills them and not water...what does help with that is the front bash plate...can seal ya dizzy up,pressurise the diffs with air..switch for fan off and on..or tarp in front grill when fording water.. never had a problem with u joints..put ya fuse box up higher in a water tight container... swap oils and fluids heaps, grease everything before and after water runs...if ya been wheeling for a bit then decide to hit the water , let the old girl cool down a bit, hot bits hitting cold water can do shit to seals...and if it doubt ,,GET OUT and check the depth of the water...... missed heaps of stuff ,,hope more will chip in with stuff ,,,always need new info....

Carry a can of WD40 with you. If the dizzy gets wet, pull the cap, spray it out and put it back on wet. It will start right up.

I must be out of this world LOL soooo Ive seen some pics of you fording through water that would sit about door handle height maybe a couple inches lower... how does that not jack up your fuse panel? or really screw up everything under the dash

we have found if doing water take a small rubber football cut it and put around your diizzy it is the cold water hitting the side that make conastion and that will put water inside your dizzy. all so spray plug wirers with silaco like wd40 it will help shed the water after.keep a can of eiec. cleaner it is the sand ,dirt, and mud in the water that recks alt.
