Stay tuned folks!

I know I have been off the radar for a while but I had to take some time for the house , fixing the lease return, prepping the 2002 stang for sale, deal with out RV write off (and find a new one), work things and whack of other $#it but I am baaaaack!

The goal in 6 weeks is to do
-weld on beadlocks (ordered)
-cage reinforcement
-linked and coiled rear
-tranny pan repair
-exhaust repair
-http://browndogindustries.com motor mounts (ordered)
-maybe bigger tires
-u joint repair, batt relocation
-maybe a new winch (Kingone)
-Front diff skid plate

Who knows if I will get it all done but I am entered in the 2011 www.highriders.ca challenge and I want to come out with my Jeep in one piece. I will be calling in friends and favors on this one,...

Previous years photos,..

Well the Chaos is about to begin,.. Blasphemy is finally in the shop!

Set the tail on the "stand"

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu235/RACE4THECURE/1a929c3f.jpg

going to be test fitting, XJ, TJ and what ever coils I can get my hands on to start the coil conversion,..

But during the week I got side tracked and did a 4" Iron Rock lift on the Wifey's Rubicon. My '93 XJ donated its rubber until I can get Her at least 33's under it. My XJ's cool factor has dropped 3-5 points since loosing its Rubi Wheels.

You fabbing up a four link Jensen?

One of the truly great coils I am going to check out is the Chevy 1/2 ton pickup rear coil. It is a large and smooth riding coil.

Nothing for sale yet,.. rebuilding at this point,.. its a custom lift but uses 6" XJ coils in the front,.. trimming is your friend :) Tires are 35 14.5 R15 Pitbull rockers

Thats the Goal!! so Far I have wedged in some TJ stock front coils, but also have XJ stock and approx 2" coils as well,.. tell me more about these chev coils,...

Oh and the first of the rebuild parts arrived,.. Weld on outer beadlocks and inner bead stiffeners from SUREWAY Metals in Calgary Alberta.

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu235/RACE4THECURE/c7e3503f.jpg[QUOTE=4.3LXJ;79938]

Oh and box one of 2 from brown dog,.. but it was only the hardware :(

Tonight was supposed to be shop night but a massive multiple roll left a friend injured and his built Samari stuck 5hrs away (2.5hrs drive, 2.5hrs trail) at the bottom of a ravine. So 2 Friends from Chanda 4x4 in Calgary and I are taking tomm off to do a 2 Jeep recovery VS one Samari,.. supposedly its a bad situation. Oh and I had to borrow the Wifey's recently modded Rubicon to go so I have to be nice to it. Wish us luck

The rear Chevy coils were off the C10 and 20. They are a large circumference coil that was designed for a smooth ride. If you cruise the wrecking yard looking for them, you will see the two arm suspension that hangs down quite a ways from the housing. Can't miss it once you see it. I have ridden in pickups on washboard roads and other semi rough roads and they perform very well due to the design. My personal opinion is that they would make a great rear coil for a 4X4. almost as smooth as coil overs.

I need to start messing around and get up to the skill level you are at, so I can build my own beast like this...

I am so excited,.. more parts today today!

Motor plates and mounts from www.browndogoffroad.com ; review/build thread to follow

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu235/RACE4THECURE/4bc4d486.jpg

Now I learned the hard way wheeling an 4.0 block puts your mount bosses at risk and I almost destroyed my hopped up 4.0 because the bosses pulled off the engine. Spend the money on these if its anything from a DD to a comp rig!

If the product is even half of what their customer service, love for the sport/jeeps and overall knowledge is it will be one of the most beneficial mods to date!

Watch out for the review!

JENSSEN
06-07-2011, 01:21 AM
Well I am not sure if you may or may not know this but if you plan on hard wheeling a Jeep with a 4.0you run the risk of sheering the bosses off the block like I did,...

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu235/RACE4THECURE/cbd12c59.jpg

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu235/RACE4THECURE/1371264c.jpg

To fix the issue at hand I purchase www.browndogindustries.com motor mounts.

First off, let Me say their customer service and knowledge of the 4.0 and Jeeps in general is amazing only trumped by their passion and the product they produce!

The mounts are VERY beefy, beautiful welds and a nice yellow powdercoat (I assume)

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu235/RACE4THECURE/4bc4d486.jpg

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu235/RACE4THECURE/d59e4ab4.jpg

The hardware comes well packaged and easily identifiable and the instructions are very detailed

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu235/RACE4THECURE/f9e2e1ef.jpg

and obviously shows pride in the workmanship when they sign their product!

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu235/RACE4THECURE/b17865ba.jpg

The install was very easy and took about 2 hrs to install with hand tools in my garage. I undid the motor mounts on both sides to the chassis and jacked up the motor enough to clear the frame mounts. Then removed the passenger side block plate. EASY! the only issue that slowed me down was one bolt that broke that took a bit to extricate.

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu235/RACE4THECURE/ccbbfffe.jpg

and in,..

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu235/RACE4THECURE/4e22c134.jpg

Fit like a glove!!

Now onto the passenger side :)

It went just as smoothly and actually faster over the driver side , the mount was a bit tight on the alternator but with some finesse on the alt mount it slid in.

http://i651.photobucket.com/albums/uu235/RACE4THECURE/46cf2ce8.jpg

Overall I love the product and it puts me one step closer to being ready for racing at www.highriders.ca Challenge . The cost is minimal for the amount of time that it would of taken to make them myself!

Just need to torque them all down and move onto the next project!

:)

4.3LXJ

Jensen, have you looked into using a 4 link calculator? I can give you a link for one. I think, and this is a personal opinion, that you should spread out the forward mounting of the lower links. I don't claim to be an authority on this by any means, but have been playing around with the idea of doing this myself. But most of the rigs I have observed use the lower links spread wider apart. I have observed that if you set this up wrong it can make your rig squat when the power is applied to the rear, or as in a case I have seen lift it up under acceleration. The amount of antisquat is up to the builder, but can affect how the rig performs. From what I have seen it is no biggie when you are using a moon buggy on a heavy rock course. But a little speed can make a huge difference.

JENSSEN

I will never ever not take input on a build! Thank-you I would like that link! The masking tape mock up was mor to make sure the links wont collide

That rig is hardcore! I love it. What color of orange is that on the oil pan & other stuff?

JENSSEN
01-13-2012, 07:09 PM
The orange is a custom mix, but very close to safety orange , the engine is actually pink in support of breast cancer.

As for future build issues the 39.5 size causes some issues, clearance mainly,... The approach angle will be awesome but I will need to do some body work,.. The broom is there to show the front of the tire.

So when does it have to run, day after tomorrow?

That's usually my MO but it needs to be done around the middle to end of June for testing.

The list:

Cage reinforcements
Race seats
21-23 spline AW4 swap
Rubicon t-case swap
3 link front end build, skid the radius arms
Mount 39.5 swampers
Shifter relocation
Rad to the back
Recess winch and bumper,...

JENSSEN

Well the current AW4 (1988) is 21 spline, I had parted out a 91 Limited that had a 23 spline output shaft same as the Rubicon. I checked the harnesses for the ECM and they look the same 88-91 so it looks to be plug and play transmission wise, as for making the speedo work,... I dunno just yet LOL. The t-case mated to the 91 tranny smoothly, seems to engauge the output shaft and both up with out any adaptors. As for linkages and suck I will likly run a Novak shifter cable.

More to come when install once I service and wash the tranny.

I'm double checking, but I believe they are double the size of the full color stickers we sell, so 2 x 4" x 10" or 8" x 20"

Here's a picture to give you a size estimate.

Why did you take the tranny out?

Current tranny was a renix era 21 spline, the rubicon requires a 23 spline output so I have a 91 aw4 that I have been sitting on for years now that I almost tossed,.. So glad I didnt

JENSSEN
06-23-2012, 02:29 AM
Well it's 1:21 AM , home from the shop and cleaned up. Headed back in the AM so I didn't kill myself tonight. After work until now I took 2 AW4 transmissions and made 1 to fit the new application. Then I started on the upper 3rd link tie in, got some booger welds when I tried to tie into the floor as it was out of position and the plate was far thicker than the floor so I did a tie far past the rear of the mount and gusseted the s#it out of it. Then reinstalled the transmission and fitted the 2004 rubicon tcase. The case fits like a glove! Not even a floor modification req'd!! Well so far ,.. I didn't take too many pictures but if you have questions on the work to date just ask.

Not good Jensen. What did you do anyway. That track bar mount has certainly seen better days. A brace from the other side perhaps? And how did you snap that axle?

After I found my "round tu it"

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/warriorsuspension/2012-07-02_16-38-06_974.jpg

I got around to doing this.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/warriorsuspension/IMG_1303.jpg

I don't know if you can tell from the pic, but the bracket is on a fish plate. Like you, I am headed for 38s and I know the stock type track bar set ups will not cut it. When I find the round tu it again, I will brace from the other side too.

The track bar was moved from the middle of the mending plate to the front, I think the track bar hit the oil pan and levered the whole assembly off. I had a poor showing this year,.. We can rebuild it and it will be stronger!

Now to lick our wounds and get it off the trailer,

Now to lick our wounds and get it off the trailer,

I hear ya. That is why I have a winch anchor in the shop. Hook up the snatch block and do it the easy way.
