CalRocks was in my back yard to day, well almost. Less than 15 mi away at Surplus City. I couldn't resist with another free ticket given to me. Saw a clean looking Xj on the way in. Sorry Tony, it isn't red

A close inspection though revealed no front driveline. I hate when a lifted vehicle that looks so good isn't really a 4X4

There is always something hiding in the bushes here. I am not sure what this is, but it was cool. Tracks front and rear and articulated in the middle.

Here is one for the Sammy enthusiasts. Had a lady driver too

Here is a view of part of the course. Almost all obstacles here are man made, and believe me they are more brutal than the natural ones.

This guy was having a real good run, till he stalled the motor and found out he had a bad battery connection and almost dead battery. Cost him the race

This one rolled from being too big to fit the course.

About half of the rigs that crested the top broke front drivelines on this one, The Terminator

Oh yeah, that course is rough. That stuff is worse than real rocks. You won't see my XJ out there.

You have a point Mark. I certainly not take an XJ on that course. It is designed to cause breakage. It is interesting to watch though. Pretty much a moon buggy course though

It goes further than that....years ago, series like NUEROC at Paragon Park were all natural......the real deal, I attended for years, hell.....we took honeymooner Jeepers there on our tab......it was real life, it was a blast, hotel parking lots were like NASCAR pits in the evenings for the next day comp's.....and when it was done.....try your own luck.
Then......somebody with too much money thought it would be kool to bring the show into stadiums, with a man made course.......like Monster Trucks, ever since then..........I lost total intrest in anything man-made, it's all BS in my eyes.......you cant recreate a river crossing, rotting leaves, a rain day vs. a dry day, natural stone, a course that gets harder as it wears......with natural weather.........just wrong if you've been there.

As far as an XJ goes, bring it on...........I've seen full sized van conversions run NUEROC from the vendors, not a straight panel on the thing after day one, real life wheeling.........theres a difference if you've had the chance to experiance it.

I might go watch others trash their rigs but mine would never go there. There's plenty enough natural stuff to break on. To me building a course that is designed to break rigs is just insane. On the other hand, californians are their own breed. speaking as one who lived there for ten years that is.
