Like that snorkle. Only thing I see that's wrong with your Jeep is it is way too clean. Is there no dirt and mud in Maine?

N1TZU
06-16-2009, 04:51 PM
Well-Bluexj, Maine government formed a special mud clean up team to bring in more revenue. I think its to try and repair the nasty roads we have up this way.:rotfl2::thumbsup: No, seriously I haven't had much of a chance to use my jeep at this point,I just did the lift 4 or 5 weeks ago, plus being self employed now for 12 years with my heating and air conditioning business I'm pretty busy most of the time. Someday I hope to get back into fishing and use my jeep up north to get into some very remote camping and fishing spots. Bob.........

Nice jeep man. Those wheels are crazy nice. You got the teflon ones right? How about that front sway bar. Is it stock and painted or aftermarket?

I agree that Mark is an excellent fabricator. I love his backbone system and he was awesome to deal with. You got the tailbone, which i need, and i have the backbone, which you need. :)

Hey muddeprived, Yes the wheels I have are the Mojave teflon,I also added red pinstripe around the outer rim for a little color. The front sway bar is stock, painted with rustoleum gray,a color close to Rubicons color. My lift came with the Gen2 disconnects. And Bluexj,I'll put together some pics of my rack for you latter today.I'll post them here........Bob.........

muddeprived, I can't believe you quoted the whole damn thing! Geez.
Nitzu, I think my favorite thing about your XJ is the subtle color highlights. Nice touch. No, I won't mention that I'm jealous about the 6.5" lift over my now slightly-sagged-in-the-rear-5" :p . What is that cylindrical thing on the driver side rear?

Bluexj I have the same KargoMaster rack, it's a great rack, and stronger than the Surco IMO.

Hey Stationwagon, thanks for the compliments. The thing that you are looking at on the rear of my jeep is whats called a Highsierra screwdriver ham radio antenna, how it works is it has a wire coil inside that is driven up and down by a small screwdriver motor. That allows me to set the antenna matching for most all the HF ham bands.Fun stuff being able to talk around the world mobile.Just another hobby I enjoy..........Bob....

Looking great!

Question:
What is the plumbing pipe elbow above the driver side wheel for? Sway bar holder, perhaps? If so, how do you hang the bar when offroading?

Keep us posted and let us know how the winch works/holds up. I think the Jeeping world is curious about budget winches and see a move away from the big "W". I'm wondering if this is good or not.

Thanks.

07-27-2009, 02:46 PM
Hi mizedog,Yes,the small 1/2" pipes on both sides above tires are for holding up the Gen2 disco's,It seems to work much better than what came with my lift kit, they pull the sway bar up much higher and away from the coil springs. The winch is an 8000 lb rig from Harbor freight which is a bit slower than the big name ones but I don't mind slow. Also thanks to all on the compliment about my jeep. Its been a great project.....Bob......
