LOL I was referring to the thread about meat glue. When I did eat real burger, I was very fussy about it. It was a family thing. My dad would go to the butcher shop. They knew him and he would go to the meat case and start pointing at chuck roasts and they would grab them and put then through the grinder right there and he would walk out with 40# of extra lean burger.

steph74
04-29-2011, 10:55 AM
sad thing is that it was still like that in France also not so long ago... now, good luck to find a "real" butcher....

I have been guitly in buying the so called fake burgers, and I have no doubt that I had some pig slime in my plate before... oh well I keep fingers crossed lol

When we drove through Amarillo a couple of years back, i so wanted to try the super 72oz (I think) steach challenge.... but I keep thinking eating that much might not be an issue..... the issue is that it gets cold and cold steak is yucky....

Same with burgers so

Yeah, now you have to pay extra at a small private slaughter house or custom butcher to get the good stuff.

Actually Steve over in Oroville is a small shop(can't remember the name right now) that has "fresh kill" meat and is processed in house. Its all organic grass fed beef you can't ask for better leaner beef, its a drive for us but well worth it.And yes I know you don't partake but it was worth mentioning. As for the above burger.... I'd eat that in a new york minute !!!

So how long is a New York minute?

And by the way, buffalo is a much leaner and more tender meat. You can get the good stuff up in Grass Valley.

P.S. I can still throw a killer bar - b- que

I think I've seen it at Lubys and at my house, but not for years now. We would buy it frozen in a bag.

If they substituted bacon for all that lettuce Id go for it... remember lettuce is water weight... plus lettuce annoys me, whats the point of lettuce on a burger? it has no taste? is it to give it a cool crisp feeling in your mouth?

Well my wife and two daughters met up with Matt his wife and two sons.

No BigJim or Rene.

I was fancying a chicken fried steak but considered a cheese burger or fried catfish. Both my wife and I got the chicken fried steak. She got the 8oz I was hungry so I got the 16oz.

https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/_b0ViaGso2Ko/TcX7U6zcqtI/AAAAAAAAA3k/nxUAeDcdnXY/s720/2011-05-07%2017.57.14.jpg

I had the fried okra first. Boy that was good stuff!

It was very good, but I'll admit I started getting sad when it was half way gone!

My wife and I agree, we need to go back and try the catfish!
