Hi everyone had five mins to say hi
of the top of head the springs are from tj rangler 6" lift kit front and rear
the rear are going to be resting on the top of axel with a holder welded
with the top siting with a bracket on the chasie rail where the bump stop is
as for the front same for the base on axel and the top still the same bump stop
setup just bigger springs as for the hight is bit bigger than first thinking but
looks realy good in person pics don't give the true efect i think
i will have to let Wayne put up more pics my phone won't let me up load for some reson

Thanks for looking at my Rig its name is to be JEEPZILLA

Hi Guys my name is Rick and I'll be putting up my own posts as soon as I get approved, until then I've borrowed Cantab27's computer.
I'm the sucker building the Cherokee, when Dan first came into work he was thinking about using a V8 WJ, the problem with them is they have far to much complicated wiring for the amount of water driving that we do here, so after a bit of talking we decided that a XJ was the best option.
So we started with a stocker, striped it out the running gear as it is to week for what we want to do (and parts are scarce over here).
In went 6" Full Traction springs and shocks out of a TJ as the weight is about the same, they are sitting on Nissan Safari axles (these are 9" diffs and incredibly strong, with parts easily available, and the diff head is on the right hand side where all the ruts are) which are turning 37x12.5R16 Maxis Creepy Crawler tires.
The arms are made in-house using the Safari rubber bushes as they allow so much articulation it is not funny, the transmission has been dumped and replaced with the V6 Toyota Surf box and transfer case as it has better gear options and the transfer case exits on the right hand side lining up with the front diff. No adaptors used as the A343 is a AW4, just swap over the parts needed to make it work in a jeep.

Cheers Rick

For all our builds reliably is the first priority, the truck is useless if it don't go in the bush, then ability followed by cost.

I do love OTT builds, The Nissan diffs are practicaly indestructable and the 4.0l motor will never break them, What ratio are you running ?? with the 37s. I ran 37" Boggers on my winch truck, It had SBC 390 cubes TH400 and with the Nissan T/case and 4.1 diffs it was too high for the real slow stuff and dare I say it a bit slugish off the mark. The guy who ownes it now swapped in 4.8s and he says it just transformed it. Wayne has put me onto this build and we might be able to help each other, look forward to seeing more. Cheers Leon (From the Naki)

As I said, Love OTT but mine has to stay road Legal so 36s are the most I will go. You were saying about the Toyota T/case and Tranny being the same as the Jeep Tranny so you put the T/case onto the Jeep auto or did you put the whole Toyota Auto on to the 4.0L motor?? and the T/case you have, is it the Gear drive or Chain drive type. I have a couple of Nissan T/cases but they only have a 2:1 reduction where the NP242 has 2.72:1, As I said the one thing I was never happy with my Nissan was the gearing not low enough with an Auto tranny. Cheers Leon.

Leon, we have gear doublers that fit the Toy stuff here in the States from at least two different vendors I can think of. If you substitute the Toy auto, you might have some electronic shifting problems, maybe. Not sure on that.

Can't help you on that one. Best thing to do is pull the harness from the truck. It will have stuff for the dash also in it which you will have to separate out. Do you have the computer for it? Something you might consider is using a Megasquirt, or if you swim like Wayne, a Microsquirt which is waterproof. They can be configured to run anything.

yachty1
07-18-2012, 02:28 PM
when we removed the motor we have taken out the harness and computer etc.we just need to blend the dodge haness into the jeep dash etc.

Danny, the way to do that involves a little creativity. Hook up all the harness that has to do with the engine. An 05 Dodge will have gauges that are run by the computer. Your Jeep has analogue gauges. So you have to run two different systems of sensors. You need the stock Dodge sensors for the computer. Then you will need the analogue sensors for the gauges. So having that same problem, this is what I did.

I used a little T fitting available at the hardware store to plumb in two oil pressure sensors.

In this pic you can see them. Just to the left of the dizzy is a brass pipe nipple about 3" long with a T at the top and two sensors. The one on the left is for the oil pressure gauge and the one on the right is for the computer.

http://i649.photobucket.com/albums/uu215/warriorsuspension/IMG_0137.jpg

In this pic, you can see that I have used two temp sensors. The one on the left is the one for the computer. The one on the right is for the temp gauge. There is a third one you can't see on the other side for the fan switch.
