well I am at the end of my teather with this need to connect the air filter to the top of the carb any ideas out there am looking at two short pipes welded in line with flexy pipe in between hope that makes sense

thats what we use as a welder down here steve...........:D
i would say yes to that steve, he has most gear.....

OK, here goes. The Weber Carb comes with a base plate and top plate for their little air filter. Use the base and top in about the same spacing as the filter would provide and wrap some tin, maybe from a tin can if nothing else and pop rivet it to the flange on the top and bottom plates. That will give you a basic "horn" to work with. Then take a piece of exhaust tubing the size you need to match the size on the stick air cleaner and then pop rivet a couple of tabs on it like this:

Then pop rivet to the horn. Seal it with good aluminum tape, if you can find it. They use it here in the HVAC industry, or you could use some silicone. Paint it up and you got it.

neighbours has pop riveter but prefer to weld then silcone the join in case of holes.
the holes in the carb piece and filter did have horns till the grinder found them :D
was trying to find ideas of where to locate the horns
sorry bout the crummy way I asked the question :out:

solved the problem,found a filter that will fit over the carband within the area I have had to work with,will have to build new housing for it but thats easy and be able to remove factory filter yahoo
