Bummer of a day for my wife. Her Appaloosa mare, Oreo developed collic yesterday evening, and we and the vet tried everything to keep her up. She wasn't any better this morning, and my wife had to call the vet to put her down.:(

We had to get a backhoe out to the place where she was keeping her, and bury her. The wife is really down as Oreo was her first, and favorite. She loves Appaloosa's.

Thats not fun, sorry to hear that.
It's like losing a family member.

Yeah, she took it pretty hard.:( I left work this morning to be there when the vet showed up. When I got there Oreo was still trying to get up, but couldn't. Andrea was crying, and brushing her off since she had been rolling around all night. I really hated to see this happen, as the horse was a gentle one, and always would come up to me to be petted.

It was somewhat worse this evening when I had to drag the horse with the Jeep to the hole the guy had dug. Andrea wouldn't even come out to the pasture to watch. She just sat up by the paddock.

Sorry to hear. I was just reading about horse colic. I can't believe that it can even be caused by a low pressure weather system!

My wife appreciates everyone's response here. As I said, she took it pretty hard, but seems to be "moving" on. She still has her POA pony Maddy, so she can still get her horse "fix".

Thanks again to everyone!
