You may have seen, or read, about a guy that developed a technology that allowed his Mustang to get 110 mpg and 500 hp. I figured he disappeard never to be heard from again, as most sharletins do.

Secretly I hoped it would turn out to be true.

He opened his plant last Monday! (http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090530/BUSINESS03/905300338/0/BUSINESS02)

I had not heard that story before, I wonder what he plans to sell those motor's for, I probably don't want to know the price

If this is real, which I think it is, you'll see gas drop like a rock. 2 gallons would do for me the same as 18 gallons. 18 gallons = $40 right now? 2 gallons = $5?

Gas prices dropping, now that would be nice

Hmm....

He quadruples the effeciency of an engine... too bad more than 80% of the loss associated with cars is in the remainder of the drivetrain. Did he invent new transmissions, axles and tires?

I wonder how specially prepared his Mustang is??? If he dropped some weight on that body.. had a manual tranny and drove mostly interstate speeds.. he could have easily pushed the stock 4-cyl. motor over 40 mpg. and probably fairly close to 50 mpg on the trip.

Or what fuel he is using??

Why are the oil companies allowing him to go forward with this project? They usually buy them out so that they are still controlling such technology.

A little more hope to the truth of this story. NBC 24 of Toledo tested his 1987 Mustang. They were only able to get 50 mpg on E85. So 100% regular gas would have netted 63 mpg. It's not 110 mpg so burn him! rofl

Doug Pelmear’s 80MPG Mustang Revisited (http://www.mustangevolution.com/200809151139/)

Here's the really big deal about this. Right now I get about 225 miles to a tank of gas (20 gallon tank, 18 useable) That same 18 gallons would let me drive 900 miles on a tank of gas! That is a full month of back and forth to work before I would have to fill up again.

I can afford $60 a month for gas, so charge me $4 a gallon you a$$holes!

Here is what Doug had to say about this, well sort of...

“I’m an optimist, and I think people need to know there is hope out there,” Mr. Pelmear said. “That’s why I decided to enter the X Prize race. I could have sold this [technology] off, but then people might not have seen it. “It’s not about the money. Our country really needs this.”

I for one, am glad to see that he is standing up to those big companies. Hope that they (big companies) don't find a way to crush him.

The X prize competiton has a prize pool of $10 million and he set-up a factory.... So what is he doing this for?? I have nothing against him trying to make a buck.. but at least have the guts to be honest about it.

Also.. the second article isnt completely truthful. In an engine that is designed to operate on E-85 the less is MUCH less than 26%.

Its also VERY interesting that they chose to test on E-85.. Why? What prompted them to make that choice??

Why doesnt he allow a full check of his car for a secondary fuel tank or source?? What is he hiding??
