I joined awhile ago and did not get around to posting pictures. I have a 1998 Sport two door. I put the Rubicon 3.5" super flex lift with 31' tires as well as a adjustable track bar. It was between the 4.5" and the 3.5" and I went with the 3.5", because I did not want to spend the extra money on the SYE and drive shaft. But, it has a lot of vibrations, even with shims on the rear end and transfer case drop. I have the SYE on order right now and I will get a new drive shaft with the double cardon joint as well.
A neighbor arranges vehicles for the movies and he had my jeep in a movie that is filming in Vancouver, called ALCATRAZ. It was rented for two days and it was supposed to be the lead actress' vehicle. The director said he liked the look of the lifted Jeep. I guess we'll see if it makes the cut..but everyone here knows that Jeeps make the cut regardless of what Hollywood thinks...

I did not realize how sacked out the rear end looked until you compare the two pictures. It looks way better now...
A bumper or two would be good right about now....this could be a dangerous thing I started...I might need a twelve step program if I catch what the rest of you guys/gals have..

I just want to say thank you to everyone who has posted the wealth of information that helped me make the first step in getting a great 4x4.

Looks good... see now you have to get an SYE/DS anyways... should have just gone with the 4.5" lift in the first place... LOL.. but so is the joys of modding the XJ... You should paint your flares/body molding with some Krylon Fusion black paint... I think it cleaned mine up quite nicely... just by doing that..

Thanks for pointing out the now obvious direction I should have gone.
Oh well..
Thanks for the tip on the paint for the molding.
I was actually thinking of removing the body molding as it is pulling away a bit already. Any pros or cons on removing the body molding ??
Painting the flares black would look better than the grey.

I wasn't trying to point out the obvious... it is just the crappy part of modding... you never could have known without doing so...

I took the molding off mine, as I think it looks cleaner without it... and figured it was going to get dented and such on trails anyways... so the molding wasn't going to much use there, and since I was going to lift it... not too many car doors are that high... and that is what the molding is for anyways... is so when some SOB opens his/her door into your vehicle, it will bounce off the molding... You can look at my build thread... and see what it looks like in Green w/ and without the molding... and the painted flares...

That's pretty funny. A friend of mine has made a few feature movies, and I offered him my Jeep as a lead role in one of his movies. He started talking about explosions and blowing it up and I told him it was fine whatever he wanted to do with the stunt jeeps...

Here is one of the movies he did with Lou Diamond Phillips.

Sony renamed the picture to "Striking Distance"

What is funny is I actually became friends with him through playing Counter Strike online with him for several years. He lives up in Dallas.

I don't think I would want my Jeep used as the stunt vehicle unless they bought me a new one first.
