TO ALL WHO READ THIS POST I AM NOT ANTI-AMERICAN JUST VERY ANGRY WITH AMERICA AND THE STATE OF OHIO

Ok so I owe local taxes. I understand that I do owe them but with having been laid off and a 10.1% unemployment rate in Ohio I'm on a fixed income right now and it makes life hard. so I go down to the tax office and offer to pay $50 a month. They say they only do payment plans of 10% and if I do not do it I will be summoned to court. No expansion just "do what we say or we will force you" that is not America, but I digress. So I get my summons and they charge me $50 for the referral to court and $80 court cost even if I came up with the whole amount in one week. So now they added another $130 to my bill just so I can go to court and the Judge say I need to set up a payment plan. What they didn't tell me(intentionally? you decide) is that they only have 12 months to collect your local taxes in Ohio after you file or else they can't collect at all, but once you go to court that statue of limitation is changed because they are now collecting restitution not Taxes so they will take what ever you can pay for how ever long it takes and now the can put you in jail for not paying(they can not jail you for not paying taxes just not filling or cheating). So instead of telling me this in one of the ten times I went down or called them. They waited so they can now collect a extra $130 plus their full amount and make me pay on a set of terms so that If I don't I will go to jail. This is America to the ignorant and sublime this country is great because you are "FREE". So they say "if you don't like it get out" but that is like telling a jobless teenager to get out of your house if the do not like the rules. You know they can't because they have already become addicted to the support you give and can't break free. Were would they go? All they good places will not let you stay and the ones that will have less opportunity then what is here. So you bite your lip and continue to live and ignore the problems while the "grown-ups" make more and more rules till the only way out is to FIGHT. I'm sorry I needed to rant if you disagree with me than I hope you have more control over your life than what most middle and low class people do if not then maybe you need to look at just how close you are to falling down and having Uncle Sam sitting on top of YOU!http://www.dayton-fbody.com/DFBAbb/images/smiles/hat1.gif

I'm sorry to hear about this. Being out of work is tough. It sounds like you may have to move to find a job. If enough people leave states with silly laws, maybe they'll change them.

I like your optimism muddy, but(I do not want people to think I'm a anti-American this country has alot of great people and it had alot of great opportunity) This Country is and has been on a bad track that I do not think is going to get better. The only states I'm thinking about moving to is North Dakota, Texas, or, Louisiana. I have different reasons for each but mostly because I think I could get a fresh start in one of those states. Other than that I think I'll be off to Germany I speak German and My wife has family in Germany, I just don't know if it would be any better.

I think living in Germany would be a blast, for a few years anyway. If Obama has his way (which he won't) America will be a lot like those socialist countries in Europe. Everyone working for those who don't.

There's no INCOME TAX in Texas, but we have property taxes. I wonder if that is what he is talking about when he says no taxes in Florida, no income tax.

Well I guess it is pretty high but it is holding, at least in Houston... 6.7% as of 5/22.

Nine US states do not have a state tax

Alaska, Florida, Nevada, South Dakota, Texas, Washington, and Wyoming

But something to think about, in the staes without state tax, their higher sales, property, and other assorted taxes can exceed the cost of state taxes

In Oregon we have state taxes, no sales taxes, but high property taxes.
We also pay the highest for our power bills because we have an abundance of power that we sell to other states, that makes no sense to me!!!, but it is how it is done.

We have a state income tax...Its fixed at 3%. The Chicago legislature wants to double it to pay off the left over corruption debts from almost 12 years of Chicago governors.

But at least they do deduct it from your unemployment checks to keep you from getting nailed there.

But we have no personal property taxes like some other states.
