well last week i fixed a water leak and hurculined the interior floor boards. After finding out that i need motor mounts after my fan clutch hit my 2 month old cfs 3-row radiator, that i dont think can be fixed, i decided to put some cash in her while she is down... after reading mudderoy's helpful cooling thread i decided to follow his steps since i also have some heat issues (who doesnt).... so ive ordered the following within the past few days.

1. brown dog performance super-flex rubber motor mounts
2. new cfs 3-row radiator from radiator barn
3. 2 procomp 12" electric fans
4. hesco high flow t-stat housing
5. flow kooler high flow water pump from summit
6. 180 deg. jet performance stainless steel t-stat from summit

i guess ill have to put my aj's rock rails on hold and my sway bar disconnects

but anyway, heat can kiss my a$$:smiley-taunt013:

Don't chunk that 3 core until you've taken it to a radiator shop and see if they can't fix it. I have an all metal 2 core as a backup that I got repaired after buying and installing the 3 core. It was $75 to repair.

Oh and I want to know how that water pump works out for you. I'd like to see a picture of the impeller if you don't mind. Thanks.

ill take pics...
as for the radiator... i tried to plug it, the crimp it... the rad. place said it would be expensive. may be to far gone...

Thanks. Well I really hate to hear that, but not as much as you did I'm sure.

I like the idea of a spare radiator, lol.

Man that sucks Bro. That is why I'm flushing mine and adding the conditioner today when I change my Antifreeze, so I can keep this stuff from happening to me

ive already disassembled the jeep and am going to start puttig the new stuff on...
here are some pics of the pumps. they are very similar, blades look about the same other then the new one has a cover over them. ports look like the same diameter.

Hey thanks for the pics. I guess that is why they don't show the back of the water pump in the ad, nothing to look at.

Now I'm interested in knowing if it helps your cooling. I'm ready to pull the trigger and get me one of those water pumps if it works out for you.

i dont see how it will flow any better... looks all the same. must be better bearings and internal stuff.
btw, the old one was well worn out... bearings were about gone
all this stuff should solve my heat problems.. i think i am going to raise my hood 1" in the rear too

Well I can see that having that plate on the back of the fins would make a difference. Like the HESCO thing says, less caveatting. If you have a chance take a picture of the new water pump from the side. Kind of a pain, so if too much trouble don't worry about it.

Can you tell if the fins are aluminum?

Wholly Crap! Let me know how badly those things transfer vibration to the uni-body. If all goes well I'm going to have to have me some of those.

BTW, do they come in red, and diamond plate? :smiley-laughing021:

they are the ultra flex rubber... so less vibs. they also come in poly for 10$ cheaper
i think they just come in yellow

Good. Motor mounts shouldn't be too bad to do.

I don't like those installs where they give you the plastic things that you push through the radiator fins. Scares me! :smiley-scared002:

yea thats what i got... i think im going to put one of those adjustable heat sensors from summit.

update... water pump, thermostat, and t-stat housing in... motor mounts are in... just need to rig the fans. i got a dual fan wiring kit from summit, adjustable with a override switch... battery went dead, so i think i am going to get a red top optima...

im thinking of reversing the fans to push in the air through the rad and condensor insted of pulling... they are reversible fans... that way there is more room in the bay and i can still have my clutch fan in... that would be 3 fans... the jeep will never be hot again

I read that pushers are ahhh 60% as efficent as pullers. Pulling the air through the radiator is the way to go.

quadracer0387
06-23-2009, 10:53 AM
well then i think i will make one a puller on the driver side and a pusher on the other... clearance is tight with the cfs 3-row... i dont want anymore incidents

hey don't let me push (no pun intended) you around. Do it like you want to. I'm just saying...

i got her going... i cant get the fans to turn on so im still working. i had her running for about 10min with no fans and a/c on and it didnt go over 210... im still bleedig the air out and such...
