My bet is that the rods in the door is bent

or the grease is all dryed up and is like glue.Just for checking it out spray
everything with a lub like wd40 or tri-flow or what ever. in the keyway
and in the latch also sprid the weatherstiping and spray down into the door.
if it work easyer you will need to take the door panel off and relub it.

??? for u guys. when i bought my jeep in march last year i could unlock the hatch with the key. a month later it was frozen and wouldnt unlock. is there any thing to do to help unstick the lock( ive tried wd-40) and if not how hard is it to change the lock piece. it still locks and unlocks when i do it with the power locks so im not really worried. but still it would be nice especially at the store. oh and i have a 95

Hose it with white lithium grease, have a new key key and flutter the key,... Usually unsticks them

if you can take the door panel off clean off the old lub from the linkage then put a small amount back on. Most people never lub there auto locks so the grease drys up and works moore like glue. if you lub you locks twice a year
they would last a long time.if you dry out and you fours them it will strip or bend or brake something.

Pop the interior panel off and adjust the linkage for the handle,...
