My wife hates driving my Jeep, and would rather not ride in it if she can help it.. She doesn't like feeling like she is sitting down low like she does compared to her Ram (for now anyways). Anyways thought I would do this thread to keep track of it from Day 1 as it progresses through life.

Sorry the pics are so huge... I thought I had resized them...

Day Two (Tried to use back to black on the faded flares and molding)

Day Three (Didn't like the outcome, so I removed the side molding and painted the flares with Krylon Fusion)

Yeah.... that was why I was hoping I could get all the needed pieces to have it installed before this winter... hopefully this year wont' see the same snow fall..

Swapped my exhaust out last night.. I installed Rusty's 2.5" Flowmaster 40series cat back. These are the only two videos I have right now, and I will try and get another better video from behind when I first start it up.

Soundin good so far there James

Yeah... I am very pleased with it... The clicking sound in the second video is the handles for the foot locker I have in the back with all of my tools and such in it... didn't realize it was actually making noises until I listened to the video.. The only thing I need to do now is, I think I might need to replace my battery... since I got back it doesn't like to start right away like it did before I left... it almost didn't start the first time I tried to start it when I got home.... it started just fine before I left... after I drive it, like if I hit the gas station, it starts just fine..

Here is the second startup... I will try and get a better lower angle video today..

Hard to compare without a video of the sound prior. Cameras can make the sound louder that it really it. To me it sounds very loud, not glass pack loud, but loud.

It has a good tone to it. So was shipping from Rusty's as much as the muffler? :rotfl2:

bluedragon436

as much as the muffler, or as much as the full exhaust?? LOL... Well before was completely quiet... it was stock... well minus the aftermarket holes... it actually isn't too bad... will try and dig out my db meter this coming week/weekend and see what it is...

Here is some pics of my 2.5" Rusty's cat-back exhaust setup with a Flowmaster 40series (both installed and before), that can be heard above.

Got my Rough Country TC drop kit on its way (will get pics of it as soon as it arrives), as well as got a good deal on a set of sway bar disconnects (something I wasn't going to worry about just yet, but got a kick a$$ deal, so couldn't pass them up)..

Thanks.. I really like it... got a small sound trying to figure out if it is one of the clamps being loose or if it is just the echoing of the sound through the piping and muffler... will be going out and tightening the clamps up a bit tomorrow...

Punisher
11-21-2010, 06:19 PM
If ya can have it welded so you dont get hung up on the clamps..

bluedragon436
11-21-2010, 08:10 PM
OH yeah... definately the plan.. I just want to wait until after I hit my inspection in June to make sure it isn't too loud... I am pretty sure it will be fine.. but want to make sure while I can still easily replace it...

Well just returned from spending some time back home due to a death in the family.. While @ home though I managed to do some deals with a few friends and a local shop... my Jeep has changed just a little bit.. What do you think??

http://i267.photobucket.com/albums/ii306/bluedragon436/XJ/0115010914.jpg

I need to either purchase some adj. control arms, control arm drop brackets, or long arms to center my front axle.. or push it back forward rather... I ended up with 6" of lift, and am running 33x12.50.15 Pro Comp Xtreme Mud Terrain tires... was an awesome ride home... and got to stop by and meet up with Dalton4x4 on the way home... was a great time for sure..

There are a few other items I need to pick up in the near future like SYE, a drop pitman arm and some better gears... on top of the armor that I already was wanting anyways..

bigjim350
01-16-2011, 07:00 PM
Looks great James. But yeah get ya some adj. control arms and you'd be good to go. What all did ya use to get the lift?

bluedragon436
01-16-2011, 07:10 PM
I am running a bastard lift... no not bastard packs... just a mix...

Rusty's 4.5" Coils
Rusty's 4.5" Springs
Rusty's brake line extension kit (for fronts, will have to take care of the rear w/ a YJ line)
Rough Country 9000 Series 4-6" shocks
Rough Country adj. shackles
Rough Country 1.5" coil spacers
Rough Country TC drop (for now, plan on purchasing a SYE as soon as I take care of the front axle location)
Rough Country adj. trac bar
Not sure who's sway bar disco's

bluedragon436
01-17-2011, 01:18 AM
Going to take care of a few things first, to include centering the front axle as well as a few other minor maintenance things.... but I def. look forward to hitting up some trials this coming summer... if I'm stateside that is...

Will get more pics once the day is clear and somewhat sunny... as well as once I can clean the rims up a bit... not that I ultimately care about them... because I am not a huge fan of clean/shinny rims anyways...

Well not sure on the rocks (as I live in the middle of bum f**k), but as far as mud... they seem to be pretty nice so far... def seem to throw it a bit more than the Pro Comps did... can't wait to actually get into some good mud to play and see what my XJ comes out looking like..

Picked up some nice new rims for the XJ today... They are American Racing ATX Chamber's in 16x8"... I was tired of everyone having the rock crawler rims, and haven't seen too many XJ's especially with these rims, especially not around my area... I got a full set of 5, so I'll have a matching set w/ spare once I get tires for them.. The rims pictured below are the rims I got, unfortunately no Rubi or tires came from the second pic with the deal I got... but still got a good deal... Can't wait to get some tires to wrap these babies in and get them on the XJ...

Yeah they do look pretty nice... I like the Teflon coating they have them too... guess when the going gets ruff, I can always pull my rims and use them to cook eggs over the camp fire, and not have to worry about the food sticking to them.. LOL.. I can't wait to get them wrapped and throw them on the XJ... Will def be taking pics to show that progress when it happens...

This is one of the XJ pic I can find with these rims... with the body color I want at that..

http://www.americanracingchamber.com/gallery/american_racing_atx_chamber_teflon_jeep_cherokee.j pg

And that is with some beefy looking tires, but not much lift... so can't wait to see how it looks with taller beefy tires and a taller lift...

Also got a hitch receiver winch mount from the closest one I can find is made by Curt manufacturing... but the one they show is a hollow 2" receiver, mine is solid steel from one end to the other, with the exception of the two holes drilled for the hitch pin to go through... It is a pretty stout setup... wasn't going to spend the money on one, but it go thrown in on the deal with the rims... so wasn't going to turn it down... The one I have is pretty close to this setup, but solid steel in the receiver part instead of being hollow... https://www.curtmfg.com/masterlibrary/31010/images/31010_1024x768_a.jpg

Installed the RC steering stabilizer tonight, will get pics of the new vs old shortly... It is nice not having any of the small shimy that I felt after installing the lift and larger tires... can't wait for the even better steering feel of having all new TRE's up there..

Also messed around with the drag link and tie rod, and I know the TRE's on my drag link are bad... so going to go ahead and order up new tie rod and drank link w/ TRE's, and will go a head and do the GC tie rod while I'm doing this replacement...
