I got a mil M46 trailer the other day to build into a expedition trailer. Someone cut the sides off and raised the fenders to clear HMMVW tires that was on it when the mil pulled it carrying a generator. I'm goin to build new sides for it, build a hinged top, put a roof top tent on it, carry a spare in it, as well as extra fuel, maybe a cb, all the campin stuff, spare parts in it, and im sure more stuff.

I started it tonight. I lifted it to clear the 38's im puttin on it to match the jeep. I still have to put the U-bolts back on it and extend the parking brake cable tomorrow. Will get some pics of it after its finished being lifted tomorrow.

Here is a pic of it before i lifted it.

I like it... I have thought about doing something similar myself.... except I don't go on many (any?) expeditions. If only I lived in the mountains. I would like to do more camping. Even if it was only to the lake it would still come in handy. With the roof top tent and already packed with all camping gear, would really be a hook up and go type of thing.

we are trying to plan a over night wheeling trip through the mtns here and would be great to bring along. I didnt get to finish lifting it like i wanted to tonight. took longer to get my xj back than i thought. for some reason my fuel started boiling in the tank and causein alot of problems. goin to finish lifting the trailer tomorrow.

I gave $50 for this thing in the condition that is sits. New tires, brakes, lights, wiring, jeep side plug, jeep side pintle mount, a HMMWV canvas top, and the tool/cargo box.

The back of the Cherokee is saggin a bit cause there is about 500lbs to 1000lbs or more of cargo in it. Also im bout to lift the back another inch and also stretch the wheel base in the rear a inch or so.

i love the 38's but they did snap the tc out put shaft. the trailer is goin to be freakin huge. it sits level with the xj. its sittin on 30's. im goin to have to take out a few leafs in the springs. also when i build the tub i may also have to build higher fenders.

I will get me one of these trailers one day... I have been keeping an eye out for a decent deal for one in my area... don't even mind driving an hour or so to pick one up that is in decent shape... as long as they don't want an arm and a leg for it... I need all of my mine.. will def. be keeping an eye on this one as it progresses..
