Hey guys,
Well I'm working on tearing down this old 4.0 liter and getting ready to take it to the machine shop for cleaning and inspection to see if its worth it to rebuild. and if it is I'll be working on making it a stroker and I'll be taken photos as I go along but for now just take a look at this photo and tell me "Whats wrong with this picture?" I noticed the bearing on this motor and I'm kinda wondering is this right? you tell me.. I know on a chevy 350 is on the rear journal but is this the right place for a Jeep 4.0?

You will be able to tell by looking at the crank main journals and measuring them. The thrust bearing will be in the wide one.

This was the motor I pulled out when i put the 98 one in and this 91 motor is NASTY as shit!!!...
The reson this motor was messed up is cuz the oil pump gave out.. I'll have some photos of the pistons later today to show how bad it is..

Well, apart from the shell bearing missing from the journal nearest the camara and the metal to metal pick up on the piston skirts i would i would say that is well and truly cattled mate, Oil pump failure big time or poor oil change intervals. Either way it nees a good machine shop to check the crank and see if it's salvagable.
