I found a set of used bushwhackers. I don't mind the look of my XJ trimmed and flareless, but hate the constant spray. Neen kicking this idea around for awhile.
Jeep is being used more for hunting and camping then anything else.
A couple of pics of yellow XJ's with Whackers. Opinions please

IMO, Bushwackers look fine on a yellow XJ. They look good on any color as long as there is enough tire to fill them out. If the tires are too small it makes you look like a wannabe.

Well you know my thoughts. :D

You already have a black ban running around the bottom of your XJ, I think they will go quite well.

I could tell you no that they wouldnt look good with your black plating and that you would be better off selling them to me cheap so I could put them on mine. But I would be lying. :( . If I were you I would do it in a heartbeat.:

Get 'em. They would solve the problem (spray) without looking bad.

i like them but i agree that bigger tires are needed to fill them out... definatly would not work with my 31's.... i would say 33s minimum

I think the thing with Buchwackers is you either love em or you hate em. I personally love em and I've had mine for a couple of years now.

Definately need a big tire to fill em out (I run 33's) and it's best to cut all the excess fender back as well rather than just bolt them on.

I love yellow XJ's and with B/W's on it looks really cool!!:thumbsup:

You don't get the factory on steroids look with anything else. That love hate thing runs deep. I had one guy over on NAXJA tell me I couldn't post there anymore because I put the bushcrackers on my pretty red jeep. :D

Rusty's are pretty good, and that TJ flares on an XJ?!?!?! Blasphemy! :smiley-laughing021:

You definitely have to cut back as far as they say, then take a big hammer and beat it back farther. In fact I need to take mine off grind, expandable foam and paint behind mine. Maybe this weekend.

Oh and for tire size, well the bigger the better I say, but I think the biggest difference is whether they are MT or AT. I think my MTs look fine with the BW flares and they are 32s.

What's wrong with TJ rear flares on an XJ?

TJ rear flares look good. They can look almost factory if you do it right. Personally, I like rusty's. They aren't as sissy as the BWs, and by sissy I mean brittle and weak.

If I had a trail/rock rig it would be Rusty's then the TJ flares, but at that point look and style wouldn't be a consideration. :smiley-laughing021:

You've been looking for a way to push my buttons for a long time. I guess you finally found it.

But it's okay, I understand ... if your XJ was prettier than mine I'd pick on yours too :smiley-taunt013:

TJ flares FTW! Eat your heart out.

Well see I learned something today. I didn't know those were TJ flares. You have the rear flares all around then. I don't like the TJ front flares on a XJ. To me it makes the XJ look like a wanna be TJ.

i have the pacer flexy flares on the back of mine and they look alright but are pretty much pointless because they dont cover my tires and i kick myself in the *** all the time for running a bunch of self tappers into my rear quarter panels.

Now i plan on taking them off and bondoing the holes and doing bedliner like jeepthings. And going completely flareless.

besides isnt getting dirty were all the fun is anyway?

the b/w`s are great....cut out the inside of them on the fronts to offer up some more flex in the flare......see my avatar for a example.....then check the pic in my sig to how well the tire tucks!

I thought about getting some cuz i want to get 33" tires but i think i would prefer to upgrade to 6" lift instead and keep my stock flares

I like B/W, But seeings how they are so expensive... I am rinning no-flare on the front and flare on the back (stock).
Once I can get a decent lift, I will be getting them... Hopefully..

see in utah if you have a jeep that is lifted you have to have either bws or run mud flapes, and is some towns they make you run both. yes i know utard is dumb but we have a lot of good looking xjs going around with bws. i like them i have had them on a couple of xjs but i would have to say they are way over priced.
