I have been talking about it too much and now its time to pull the trigger and post a poll.
I wanna plan a weekend trip to brazos valley offroad ranch, the park is privately owned so we have to plan ahead and get with the owner for a private weekend.
First and foremost I need to get a good poll on who is willing to go and can pay as well, I think I read that for the whole weekend its 300 dollars for the whole group starting this month. so I think the more folks we get for the run the better financially and for memories.
They do have running water there however other than that its pretty primitive. They do have a bunk house there as well which can sleep probably about 30 people.
Of course there is also tent camping available and we can have a bonfire as well.
The park is incredible I wheeled it a few months ago and the ONLY thing I would have done differently was the time of year, MAN it was hot!!!!
so Here I have added a poll and I wanna get all that can attend to vote, also this will be open to friends and family, not just XJTalk members so if your buddy has a tj or whatever else 4x4 and they wanna join by all means tell them, the more the merrier.

GPS COORDINATES 30.612713,-96.420225
here is the website with all current information.
http://www.brazosvalleyoffroadranch.com/
the trip is just under two hours from west houston and it is a scenic trip as well.
Hope many will attend!
Thanks

I am so up for that trip!!! But like you said the heat can be a killer there as there are very few trees to get out from under the sun. Also the climbs are steep and can vary from a straight up shot to extremely technical. I have been there once and absolutely loved it there as there is plenty to do. Also large groups are NO problem at this location as there are plenty of parking places to wait a turn and if you are impatient then you can climb another spot only 50 feet away!! Again it is well worth it and the drive is fast and easy and very scenic. since it is bryan college station there are tons of eat's for what ever you may want.

It is worth it and is the best that we can get without driving 5+ hours.

And here are some vids from that location. (http://www.youtube.com/results?search_type=&search_query=bvorr&aq=f)

It was back when Kerr-Mcgee was around I went out for a month to do system upgrades on the rigs. When they ask do you snore (that means very small bunk house)so you have to find another place to crash ,and question #2 was do you like lady's (that's when the walls flip and the porn comes back out) it was there way of testing you about reporting them back to hr since porn was a big no no.

You should make it no problem Tony. Shoot I have a list of 15 items that I need to fix and work on before I go including bumpers and brakes( really need to be done). Just head out there, it is tons of fun and a whole verity of stuff to do, from simple climbs to really twisty and off camber situations. And lots of photo ops!!!

I'll be back in a couple days, but as of now am scheduled to be back out here in september and november, so most likely i can't make it :sad0147: its a shame cause hopefully i will have my jeep up to par by then (new radiator, rear 8.8 installed, and new gearing F/R)

Price Breakdown Camping Fri Night $10 per adult Wheeling Sat $10 per adult Camping Sat night $10 If you leave by noon on Sun I will not charge for any Wheeling Sunday. There will be a $150 refundable deposit required for the group that will be returned when you check out provided the facilities are left in the same condition as they were when you found them. Steve

basically saying.... kids, what kids? I dont see any kids! so bring em they are free for the whole weekend!!!

There is nothing wrong with the Jeep yet. The guy that is supposed to do the cage said he might start on it around the 10th. But he keeps pushing the date back, so I may have it. So if I don't bring the Jeep, I'd probably bring the 4-wheeler.

It's getting close. I am coming with a friend. We will stay at the park Friday night and wheel on Saturday.

So put me down for:
2 people
1 night (Friday)
1 day wheeling (Saturday)

Have we got someplace where we are going to meet to drive up there?
Will someone meet us at the gate at a designated time?
Any ideassuggestions what we should bring (besides a Jeep and a good attitude)?

All in all it was a good day. Good wheeling and good company.

I was afraid you were talking about Scott. I hope he didn't break anything, or hit someone with a coil spring when it popped out! :D

Everything and everbody is OK. He got quite good and fast at reinstalling them. The hardest part was finding the spacers. But that worked out too.

Well Im home... I had a GREAT time... the best trip wheelin I EVER had, only drawback was a LITTLE too cold last night... even with the Vodka... I had enough to drink that I ended up falling asleep in the chair by the campfire... AFTER everyone else went to bed... My face is burnt a little LMAO when I finally got up to physically get in bed... I was still kinda intoxicated enough to get the zipper on my sleeping bag stuck and cry about it... " BABE, My Zipper is stuck" "ummmm keep your pants on kids are in the tent" NOOOOO the zipper on my sleeping bag...." it was REALLY cold but VERY peaceful last night!
Rene I found something for you, I have video of it and I will have it posted as soon as youtube catches up . IM SOOOOO glad that we had a decent turn out and it was great to wheel with you guys...
Glen I REALLY didnt know you wheeled like that... it was VERY impressive to see such a BEAUTIFUL XJ go sideways and ALMOST flop... I have vids of that as well... I had some friends from dallas come down as well as a good lil group from a town called Mexia... pronounced "MUH hay UH" one the guys chance we call him "airborne" ... he earned it last year at bridgeport when he launched his 4runner up a hill and got about 3 feet of air under his rear tires. total carnage report was One front driveshaft on a F250 and TONS of pride lost as he was winched up a STEEP hill by an XJ, Thank you Greg!
and one wheel cylinder I THINK on mine as well as a bent tierod... bigger n better! by the way no matter what you think, Your XJ cannot stradle the tracks on a tank unless you have about 14 inches of lift... RIP my tierod!
Here are the only PICS I got but I DID get SEVERAL videos

Scott;
Had a great time.

Glad you like my Jeep, but it is a Jeep, I bought it to wheel. I have my F150 for the street. Hmmm. lockers, alloy shafts...boy my honeydo list is going to be long!
Took apart my right front fender on Sunday. A lot more fender trimming is in order. But don't worry Scott, I will retain the stock look (more or less). I do have to admit though, these stock flares are a PITA.

Add one more carniage to the list. I got home and there was lots of oil under my Jeep. The front main seal is toast. Anybody got a lead to change this out? I do not want to tear into it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6QohMWs4e4
this area was the hairiest and most stressful spot we encountered the whole day, Like texj says the video doesnt do it justice.
What these videos dont show is that there is a slight drop off on the passenger side at the bottom of the hill and about wheelbase distance on the DRIVER side rear there is a hump on the down slope which gives the VERY high opportunity to flop sideways to passenger.

Google has a cool how to link and basically its REALLY easy from what I HEAR... you only have to drop the oil pan and its a two piece rear main seal; one of the cooler things jeep did over the years.
Glad to hear you had a great time and you get my vote for most intense video of the day, Im sorry I didnt get the last bit of you coming up that part I almost fell over getting out of the way, I know there are a few others that got that shot from another angle so as I find them I will post them!

I wasn't going to let no small incline kick my butt! It was kinda funny watching all the bodies suddenly start to move at a fast pace when they realized I was really coming up the hill. Before I went I told everyone to get out of the way I was coming. Maybe next time they will believe me.:D

Yep, the leak is the front seal. But I was told to check my CCV first. These are known to get clogged up and leak. It will look like the oil is coming from the front main seal. We can only hope.......
