Just a bit... not my smartest idea.

As backstory, I'd just installed the locked/armored 8.25 I'd driven to Jersey for, and wanted to do some 2WD assaults on stuff to see how well it worked... got a little too happy with the skinny pedal and high-centered on a dirt pile, in the middle of a parking lot. Broke my dinky strap, and the cop was there because someone had called saying, and I quote... "There's a truck stuck on a irt pile, and it's slinging dirt all over the place."

The dirt getting slung? about two feet behind me from where the rear wheels just dug and didn't hook. The cop laughed and said that technically I wasn't doing anything illegal, since it WAS a parking lot and someone had illegally dumped the dirt there a few weeks before and it wasn't owned by anyone. He told me that the humiliation of a decently-built Jeep getting high-centered (in a PARKING LOT, no less) was punishment enough, and waited there with me shooting the :turd: until my buddy came and pulled me out.

Lesson learned? Mall-crawling is embarrassing and dangerous. :smiley-laughing021:

Oh this is great, and what a great shot. Everyone looks at my Jeep and says "I bet you can't get that one stuck!" I always respond with "You can get ANYTHING stuck!" :smiley-laughing021:

Been there, Done that... but it was on my own street... dark, frosted over windows and a big mount of gravel. Got pulled off by the wife's minivan....

Yikes..are you sure that you want to admit that a minivan saved the Jeep? I think not...lol.

Thought I had a pic of a guy in the local VW club. He has a VW van that is 4wd and it is lifted. It is one of the camper models that him and his wife camp in. Found this one....not to bad.

This is what is kind of sad. The roof height on my XJ with lift and all is about 2" less than a new mini van. Go figure.

Sorry, I agree with Jamie Lynn, I would walk before I got into that thing . We have a couple of real nice Expedition VW's that come in here, and they have everything , still wouldn't own/drive one. I aint no soccer mom !!!!

Great story and even better pic with the cop car in the background! It also demonstrates that cops are regular people too -- I know plenty with 4x4s of their own. I have a pic with a cop car in the background with the tree on top of my Jeep, but I don't have a photobucket account .. yet.

Great pic and story!

Don't be too embarrassed... I have gotten a few of my 4X4's stuck next to the shop many of times.

It usually starts out with me doing some "fancy mod" to my 4X4, then me going out next to the shop to test out "new fancy mod", then it ends with Krazy Al using one of his yellow CAT powered overly large extraction vehicles to remove my not yet completed 4X4 that apparently still needs way more "fancy mods" since I can't make it out off my own property with it yet. :smiley-laughing021:

Can't say I've ever gotten completely stuck as of yet.... but have managed to get high centered messing around on a pile of dirt where they are doing some construction on base... but was able to play just a little bit and finally get her off the pile...

Hey... I had a guy last year give me crap because he was like hey man, my Excursion's roof is the same height as your lifted Jeeps roof is, and you spent all that money and time to get it that high... I said yeah but when your lower ground clearance gets you stuck in the snow, you give me a call... guess who called me to pull him out of the snow a few times.. THIS GUY!!! LOL

Absolutely classic the police rolling up just made the picture all the more hair-lary-arse. Lucky they had a sense of humor and were nice.
