Can I ask a huge favor from everyone here?

If possible can you all post me a picture of your jeeps? and measure from ground to roof rack how tall it is?

I know everyones tire size might be different, but I can't seem to visualize the actual size I want me jeep to be in the end. I measured mine and it is 64" or 5.4"

Am I making any sense?

You must be a lift whore as well. I never knew that your Cherokee went through so many phases.

Just like my TJ. 2" then 2.5" then 3" and finally 4". Jeeps are like kids, they grow up :)

Measuring at the pillar between the front and rear doors...

71" (approximate hard to measure)

A more accurate measurement is from the ground to the edge of the door sill, this is the point where water would be able to start coming in around the door.

25 1/4"

Measuring in the middle will be a average height between the rear and the front.

I have a 4.5+1.5 lift in the rear and 4.5" in the front. I also have custom diamond plate bumpers front and rear, which is going to drop it down slightly.

A 80 pound winch may do so even more.

Don't be, those pictures are wonderful, thank you for posting them!
Very helpful to me :cheerleader:

One quick question Muddeprived, did you shorten the roof rack?, mine extends all the way up and your stops before the front doors?

Is that something I am going to have to watch for, the back being lower than the front when I lift it?

If you do go with Add A Leafs instead of Leaf Packs then that is for sure going to happen. Not at first maybe... but certainly after a while. (Mine only took 3 months to flatten out).

I went from stock to a 2" Budget Lift (spacers and shackles) to a 3" Rock Krawler Kit with Add A Leafs to 5" with the Budget Lift added to my 3" Lift.

I will go to 5.5" coil springs, 3.5" Leaf Pack (used with my 2.5" Shackles), SYE Kit with Front Driveshaft, and Adjustable Upper Control Arms when I have more $$$$ available. 33" Tires also.

I do not have Photos of the different stages of my Lifts. Sorry.

I'm not looking for different stages of lift pictures. What I am looking for is just pictures of different size lifts on jeeps to see just how tall they really look.

The 3" lift I was going to put on said after installed my jeep would sit 4" higher.

The picture muddeprived posted with his jeep sitting by the other jeep with the 6.5 lift showed me that 6.5 was not the lift for me, I felt for my needs it was too tall. I asked for the measurements because that would give me a comparison since I am 67"

I measured the same place Mud did, roughly 4.5" lift & 32" tires. No winch bumper or rear bumper. Aluminum Surco basket and spare on top.
Front ground to rack 71". Ground to rocker 24.5" .

Melissa the roof rack is shorter on the late model XJ's. Used the same one as the Grand Cherokee

I really thought my height to the top of the rack rails would be 72" but like I said it was hard to measure accurately.

The measurement to the bottom of the door sills to the ground was much easier to measure.

Mine is setting at 21" at the rocker in the middle of the two doors, and 68 1/2" at the rack rail, not the crossbar. I'm riding on 31" tires. IMO, too small for the amount of lift I have.

My next set of tires will be 33x12.50x15 at least, and maybe 35x??x15.

33's were always in the plan but I had to wait until I did the bushwackers.

I asked for the measurements because that would give me a comparison since I am 67"

I am also 67" tall and at 5" of lift and 32s I have to climb in a bit.

XJs with 4.5s and 31s I have no trouble lifting my right leg into the Jeep and sliding my butt into the seat and getting out is just as easy.

With my Jeep Club there are many Rides that require a Lift and 33" Tires. I'm not allowed on those Rides until I run with 33s. That is why I am going to 5.5 and 33s. I could go with a 4.5 and 33s since my Fenders are cut out, however, I want lots of room to Flex without scrubbing. I really do not want to have to climb up into my XJ, however, if I don't go with 33s... I am left out of half the Rides. Otherwise, I would run with a 4.5 and 31s and kept on my Fender Flares. My Fenders are cut out and I have YJ Flares on my XJ.

xjjeepthing has a beautiful XJ and as you can see he has removed his Fender Flares and is running with a 4.5 and 32s. That's a wonderful setup. With a Transfer Case Drop Kit ($20 or maybe it would be included with a kit) you may not have to buy a SYE and New Rear Driveshaft. You could keep your Flares by going with a 4.5 and 31s.

I have tried to load up some Photos of friend's XJs where they have 4.5s and 31s but I have had no luck. I'll figure it out. The other Photo I posted of my XJ was linked to the Club's PhotoBucket Account.

I will get measurements for you tomorrow, I'm not with my XJ right now. 4.5" lift, 33" tires.

No ma'am. That's stock. Perhaps someone sprinkled some of that extenze fluid on your bars and made em longer. :smiley-scared002:

Just to be clear, I measured to the gap where the rockers and the door meet. The edge of the rocker.

I'd LOVE to go with 33's!!!:D But I don't think so with 3.55 gears. I have ridden in an XJ with 33's and 3.55's and it "seemed" to perform ok to me, but I didn't drive it.

I run 32s with 3.55 gears. I should go up to at least 4.11s with 33s.

Here is a site I like to use for all that kind of stuff:

http://www.dirtroad.com/gears.htm

Old Tire Diameter: 28
New Tire Diameter: 33 Current Gear Ratio: 3.55 New Gear Ratio:4.18 (or 4.11s)

Hope this helps.

It's not THAT bad. I rode in one with 33x12.5's and 3.55 gears. It had some oomph but not ALOT. I have 32's and it's fine. If you guys think that is bad, try driving a 2.5L with 3.73's and 33's. NO POWER. I had that thing's gas pedal on the floor 75% of the time.

My XJ has a 4.5" lift with 31" tires measuring from the bottom to the slider id 22.5" and to the roof is 68. one problem with my lift is the rear is lower than the front almost two in. I need to raise it up a bit but not til I get the SYE. http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/vv254/hatchetman0170/Picture068.jpg http://i689.photobucket.com/albums/vv254/hatchetman0170/Picture078.jpg

Mine used to sit lower in the rear, but that was because of the AALs and the 100k+ UpCountry rear leafs. At least that's my theory. I replaced the rear leafs with new Rough Country 4.5" leaf springs, but the only shackles I had were the ones that came with the 4.5" AAL lift kit. The shackles are 1.5" and 2" adjustable. I have mine on the top hole, so technically I'm at 6" lift in the rear. My XJ sits level now. No SYE for me yet.
