It's been a while coming but here it is: I drilled a half inch hole on the roof.

Sprayed with primer and installed grommet.

Fed wires through the roof after putting them in wire loom.

Pulled through to the inside, both hot wires run down the A pillar and the ground wire will be grounded where they are.

I drilled a half inch hole in the side of the glovebox and pulled the wires through, then I drilled a inch and a half hole through the back of the glovebox into the cowl area to feed the wire outside.

I drilled another inch and a half hole into the cowl area under the hood and I mounted the relays on the inner fender next to the battery, the third relay will be for the lights on my hood.

Lights installed, I removed the yellow light I had in the middle, I have another idea for it.

Here are the switches, the bottom one controls the outside lights, the next the inside lights, the third switch will control the lights on the hood and the last one will go to my OBA when it is finished.

Here they are at night, not to bad for the Cheap Wal-Mart KC lights and even with both sets on it has less of a draw on my alt than the factory headlights do.

More light is always more better. Thanks for the write up, this is great for anyone that has never done it before, like me.

I hope it helps some people or at the very least maybe gives them some ideas of their own.

Thanks, but I can't take the credit, I saw it on another forum just can't remember the exact one. :patriot:

Where did you get the grommet? I tried doing that on my GC years ago and ended up doing it very badly...found some cheap rubber grommets that didn't work; ended up shaving the wires and shorting them out.

I got them at Advance Auto, they come in an assorted pack with several different sizes, around 3 bucks.

Nice write up and install.. Very Clean.. No worries about water coming thru the roof I take it?... You down south guys must not have to worrie about low branches and tree's taking out your lights like we do up here in the PNW... Shit, we build DOM cages for our lights here...lol:D

No real problem with it leaking so far, if it does I'll just add some black perma-tex to stop it. I'm in the process of getting the material together for a roof rack and when I build it I am going to build cages for them. Just didn't see any reason to waste my time on the factory rack.

ID go ahead and do the permatex man... I did the EXACT same thing and came out one day with an inch of rain water in my floorboard driver side...WELLLLLL worth the three bucks and also make sure your inject it INTO the hole not just a layer on top as with wind speeds it will peel back and still cause a leak... just trying to save you a wet ride some day

Great post would like to get around to doing it with the roof rack at some stage, once I finish the list of other projects on it.

Nice job. Looks like you bolted the lights to the existing roof rail, does it vibrate. I was going to bolt some steel across so it was more solid.

No real problem with vibration and they're still working fine and no leaks around the grommet. :D

I mounted 4 Wally World lights to my roof rail as well and I dont have any vibes either. The metal in the middle of them is strong enough for the lights to hold tight. Great write up bro I have been wonderin how to do the wire with the rubber grommet. I just ran mine into drivers side door and down the side of dash. But since seein how you done it I will be changin my set up soon.

Mine is a 99 model, I think the rail is all plastic

Looking great. I guess I would be "shaking" before drilling a hole in the roof.
Well done.
Saar.
