Well since my 1991 Cherokee was totaled (3/11/2010) and the Insurance finally payed out (4/10/2010). I was on the hunt for a new project. I was torn between a newer diesel truck or a new project jeep. Well with some inspiration from my wife she told me to get a project to make my self happy. She knew I wouldn't be happy with a new truck because of the limited modification that could be done to if to keep it under warranty. With those word I was on the hunt for a new project. I finally settled on a 1981 Jeep CJ8 Scrambler
-4 cylinder 2.5 liter
-4 speed
-4wd.
Here are a few pics.:driving::drool:

I think you'll have a lot more fun from this. Of course you are more than welcome here, but if you would please consider joining up on WranglerTalk.com!

I'd love to see the build, and it will help generate some traffic for wranglertalk.

I hope the insurance company did you right. What are you going to do with the old rig? It looked to be more than rebuild-able.

I bought it back. But I haven't decided what I wanna do with it. Some one offered to buy it as is. With just the motor trans rear axle and interior and whats left of the suspension. but I could part it out and get more money I just don't know If I wanna to all of that.

Only you know whats best for you, but if I had the room I would part out the stuff that was worth the time and $$$ and then use a little of the money to get a C8.25, fender, front end parts, etc... Then sell the whole thing.

It might be a fun rig to paint camo and beat the hell out of! Good backup rig. Besides you already know it will go anywhere.

Ive been working on the electrical trying to get it sorted out. I have also been busy with work and life i general. Im in the middle of a move to our new house with a two car garage. Then the fun begins. I got big plans for this one, like a GM vortec 5.3 with a hot cam mated to an NV4500 5-speed to the Dana 300 t-case. Oh and a 4" lift kit from Rough country. Im going to reuse my new 33-12.50-15 BFG MT KM2's.

You better bring that thing out to the meet and greet, or we'll just have it at your house. :driving:

So they came with a tail gate, right? Are you going to get one of those?

It has a tail gate. I removed it a few weeks ago to bang out the dents from its former logging repair vehicle service life. THis thing only has 61,000 miles on it.
I picked up these over the weekend from the same guy I got the rear seat and rear bumper from. Scored a hell of a deal on these. Just need to be cleaned up and painted.
