Hey thanks for joining, and thanks for jumping in with a post!

I used Pennsoil straight 30 for about 11 years in my XJ. I wanted to switch to a synthetic but heard horror stories. I finally did about 6 months ago. I use Mobile One 10w-30 high mileage. No issues. This last oil change I went with a larger oil filter.

I think the import thing about the oil is that you have enough in there and you change it often.

Be careful though. It's now a proven fact that Royal Purple in a XJ attacks speeding Toyota's.

I use Valvoline Racing 20W50 in mine. The extra viscosity gives you a little extra pressure, has phosphorous in it for flat tappet engines and is designed to be burned without leaving deposits on spark plugs. Perfect for high milage engines.

And Welcome to the forum.

I use GTX High Mileage and its been working well for me for the past 100K (188K total on the Jeep). I am scared to sue a sythetic with my high mileage. The stuff is so slick it'll find any minor leaks that you have any it'll make them major leaks. If I has a fresh engine I would definately use Royal Purple. Everyone I know that uses it, loves it.

I run only 10/40 castrol blend (1/2 syn 1/2 reg) and change it every 3k.I do not use or ever will Fram filters. Wix or napa gold only.
