Calling all Houston and surrounding area Jeepers!

I've been discussing with a few local xjtalk members about doing a little more here locally to promote xjtalk. It would be good for us Houston folks because we could have more people to go wheeling with.

After Krypto and I met at a local Sam's Club parking lot and several people were gawking at our Jeeps, I thought it might be a perfect situation to get interested people to stop, ask a few questions and perhaps get them to join xjtalk.

Having more people to post wouldn't be a bad thing for all of us. ;)

So if you are in the Houston area let me know if you would be interested in coming out for 2 or 3 hours. The idea here would be to get as many XJ's together as possible so people would be more likely to stop by and see what's going on.

Right now we are thinking about the 4 wheel drive parts on 1960. I still need to contact the manager and see if we can, but I'm sure we can find somewhere, even if we just gather at Sam's and they ask us to leave. :rotfl2:

So if you are interested in coming out on a weekend day, probably a Saturday, for 3 or 4 hours post here.

You don't have to be a Houston area Jeeper. If you want to drive 20 hours to attend I don't care, come join us! :D

I am in where and when ? there is a parking lot at 2920 and 45 across from the uhaul place, in spring and i know the owner of the security company who patrols it and i am pretty sure i can get permisson to hang out. they have hot rod gathering and R/C racing there what do you guys think?:driving:

Yep we're having a company function on the 24th. I'm thinking of something before then though. This weekend I have the Easter thing on Sunday.

Well don't know yet. May be Saturday, may be Sunday, and the time is open. That's part of the reason for the post. Everyone throw in your ideas of days, dates, and times.

I think this weekend might be a little soon, but maybe the 4-10, or 4-11?

Hey I have a suggestion, Why dont we have this gathering at a sonic, we did this with another jeep club and the turn out was great not to mention the perks of a little discount on food and having TONS of spectators as well. Think of it this way if you see a few jeeps at your local 4wheel drive place people would think they were just customers where as if you have it at a sonic it would turn WAY more heads and people wouldnt feel out of place about being there when they just wanna look.
I would be willing to head this up and make the arrangements to have this gathering but the only catch is I would have it in the katy area as that close to me.
Muddy I know you also head up the TJ site as well so perhaps we can just make it a general jeep gathering... we aint biased... unless your in a hummer LOL anyhow the more the better and the more opportunity the manager will let us do it repeatedly over the summer months. Please let me know and also yeah apparently im in for this endeavour

If you mean the Wrangler/CJ folks, personally I love Wrangers/CJs. I'll leave that up to the majority though.

yeah this is true... limited to ... wheeling potential vehicles... cause I think patriots aare front wheel drive lol which means they have two front axles as well as a rear axle... so yeah a jeep that can wheel! Ive seen some nice liberty's however I have also seen what happens to a mildly setup one as well...

I need to get started and also Muddy I need to see about getting some kind of flyers for your tj site and the xj site so I can start posting on vehicles... don worry I will put them on enthusiasts vehicles

Wow I appreciate the thought, and the implied effort, but this is just a get together. No prizes, stickers, drinks, food, etc... Just hanging out and seeing if people want to stop by shoot the breeze and find out about a cool website(s).

I dont have to include prizes or anything but if youd like to do it at a 4x4 shop you can but to include food and beverage would encourage people to stay longer and draw an even bigger crowd

Oh if I had a $10k budget, hell if I had a $1k budget maybe, but all I got is this website. I guess the fliers wouldn't be expensive, I just hope people don't toss them and someone contacts me about littering. I better do some research before you start putting things on people vehicles. Love that enthusiasm though.

no not here in texas... but like he said you COULD get popped on littering if people just toss it on the ground But you can post on a vehicle just not vandalize. I HATE when people put crap on my windshield that has no relation to me like the other day an indian restaraunt and then yesterday for a pool store...

I will let you know the cost but It wont be much and its something Im willing to do to help the growth of the site as Im interested in getting some local love going!!!

but anyhow I can probably pull together a meet at a sonic on short notice but the time we need most precious is for our GUESTS to make plans... I gotta find a place to store my doors that day WOOOOHOOOOOOOO its summer and time to take off body parts

this is a great idea if we use are own jeeps with are names on the cards then the jeep we put them on would know who to look for. i would be even willing to put my cell # on them and i think my jeep would look good on them as well :smiley-laughing021:but we do need to meet up some were im good this weekend but sat am im going to go get my exhoust fixed its leaking from the crash. 4wph works for me i might buy a winch :thumbsup:

Yeah Im going to TRY to make this an every month occurence.. but something Id like to do in june is have a HUGE 4x4 cookout party at bear creek park at Clay road and highway 6 areanot just limited to jeep but bring anyone who is into 4x4's and see if we can dominate the whole park... who else knows how to have fun ... country folk with 4x4's and BBQ's

I was HOPING to plan this for June but everybody is afraid to camp out in the heat... I need to get a concensus on this I guess Ill post a thread! Camping is fun ... we can bring drink for the camp fire and kiddos can roast marshmallows and we can make s'mores ... it'll be like old times without the corny campfire scary stories
