Here's a few details on my rig.98 cherokee classic,145k,30.9.50 tires with complete new cooling system and a/c.Future plans call for magnaflow exhaust system upgrade from stock and banks header. The exhaust will be installed next week, minus the header.I hope this will improve mileage because it is not very good at all.:D

lol I looked at my mileage today on my 98, 145k

I get 13mpg regulary. I haven't given up, I still want to swap out the new O2 sensors for OEM sensors. My O2 voltage readings are a little high.

Well lets see if I can remember it all...

I did the 4.5" lift and 32" tires. Gas prices went up so I started paying attention to my gas mileage. I was getting around 10.5 mpg.

I did...
1. A tune up (nothing)
2. O2 sensors (slight improvement)
3. 4.56 gears (a little better maybe 11ish)
4. Cracked exhaust manifold (sounded a lot better - no real change)
5. changed out all the senors (1 at a time then ran for a few weeks - no real change)
6. Cleaned throttle body (looks better)
7. Changed how I went to work. Back roads instead of highway (gas mileage increased 1 mpg)
8. Went to a new catalytic converter and muffler (sounds great)

So when I started I was getting about 10.5, now I get a solid 13 to 13.5. Best I have every got was 14 mph all on the highway.

I bought a OBD-II scanner that hooks up to my laptop, and monitored the O2 voltages. O2 sensor is running a little high on the voltage, so I've been told this means it is running a little rich. It was suggested to me that I get the OEM O2 sensor to see if that is the problem.

Of course the other issue could be the injectors. I've priced some, but I have not purchased them. So O2 sensors and injectors will prob be my next two steps.
