I figured it was a Mahindra since it only said JEEP on the front. All other flat fenders I have seen say Willys or have the Mitsubishi triangle.

I realize Mahindra probably named it a CJ4a with little knowledge of the Jeep lineage but for the record it looks nothing like a CJ4. Also here is a neat website showing various jeep built around the world. http://www.film.queensu.ca/cJ3B/World.html

CJ-4
CJ-4 Production 1951-1953
Wheelbase 81 in (2057 mm)
Only one CJ-4[3] was ever built as an experimental concept in 1951. It used the new Willys Hurricane engine and had an 81-inch (2,057 mm) wheelbase.
The CJ-4 body tub was an intermediate design between the straightforward raised hood from the CJ-3B and the all new curved body style of the CJ-5.
The design was rejected and the vehicle eventually sold to a factory employee.

well the owner of the cj ute thingy here
it's a cj4a built in India under licence i believe running a 70 hp f134 hurricane engine with a 3 speed spicier t18? followed with dana 44's now turning 32" wheel was 30" ,Armstrong steering has been lengthened by bout 300mm as on farm for 30 yrs and had flat deck as in build up pic's
have built up to be used as 4wd and no doubt pic's will keep coming

Engine is about right, but that tranny? If it really has a T18 that is a great tranny, capable of taking V8 torque. They put them in back of the 304 cu in in the 70s. The transfer case can be falling off the back and not slip out of second gear. Trust me I know. But might be a Dana 18 transfer case. That makes more sense. That was typical.

sorry about the questions 4.3lxj.... do you mean the way we farm down here

No problem.

Back in the early 70s, someone here discovered you could grow Kiwi here and have the opposite season you folks have. So there were a number of small farmers in this area that formed a cooperative and got together and started putting in vineyards. Kiwi fruit went for a lot of money then, about $100 per pound to the farmer. We grew 24,000# on an acre at my dads place. The place I am on now has an old vineyard that never did produce anything. I have to take it out. What a mess.

Hey mate, thanks. Do you guys eat pie, like we do in America? If you do, try a Kiwi pie. Sweet and sour flavor like we have in a strawberry/rhubarb pie, but different. Also, I made a sweet and sour sauce with kiwi and pineapple that I put on some ham. Dried kiwi is really good too. Since we farmed them, we always had several hundred pounds of culls to figure out what to do with.

As long as you get a good seal under the carb, it will work. You would be surprised at what they will work with. I use Bosch +4 plugs. They give about 10% more hp at the wheels on the dyno.

well sunday mud plug fine and sunny got there in time started first flick of the key with my bodgy choke set up removed all the shit you carry in a 4wd off the trailer
then in the first course 2 vehicle lengths then my bumber/dozer blade hit the bank thats that 100 point,2nd speed course 35 sec best I heard of 21sec not bad lots more 100 point or dnf's then what was going to be my last course into the water up to the bank and STOP 35's weren't going there ,all ok hook up 2 snatch staps and the tractor tries to pull my sideways up the bank first funny noise 2nd attempt same thing then we got them to pull me out he end of the course by this time the engine had died my butt was wet :sad0147: and so was my seat :sad0147: after removing several large branches I was finally removed from the course everything was full of water, and my tow hooks at funny angle's,chassis was tweeked in the course of the recovery and reversed 1 shakle as well
back to the trailer behind a landrover  did geat going but starter mtr wouldn't engage so tow started and on to the trailer :rolleye0012: there ended my day watched for the rest of ther day and come home with a pair of socks and a beanie,
removed the starter tonite she's a full of water and mud so now a rebuild and will put a spare in tomorrow to wash the mud and crap off and put back in the shed to check all the oils, bearings etc

The price of being unique. You have all the waterproof stuff on that engine? The US military had them completely waterproofed. When I was a kid, there was a TV commercial for Jeep that had an extended snorkel and tail pipe on one driving around on the bottom of a lake at the depth of about 20 feet. Very cool to watch.
