Melling,ac clevite are good brands, they are easy to change once the oil pan is off.
Are you sure the oil pump is bad?

I've never done mine. I would be inclined to get a factory oil pump. Anyone know of a better one? I mean I wouldn't want to be changing it very often.

Ihave not look at one when I pulled them but I there is a good chance they are a melling,I have never had a pump go out on me they are pretty reliable if you keep the oil clean. You watch mine will go out now, lol.

Have replaced ones on GM and Fords in the past. I like Milodon and Melling, both are well made pumps. Milodon is a racing pump and wiull provide more volume than a standard pump.

I noticed while reading about the new Chrysler 4.7L stroker that it has a high volume oil pump in it. If I was replacing a pump, I would look into getting that pump.

My oil pan gasket is needing to be replaced so I might as well do the pump too.

There is an oil pump in the transfer case, but that is for the transfer case alone.

Is there an oil pump in your transfer case rebuild kit?

it's not part of the kit , what ever its only $45 just one more new thing to add

Well it worked out well then. If you are going to rebuild that tranfer case you need to change out the oil pump, at least I would.

If you are realy doing a "rebuild" then it is a good idea. Those oil pumps are critical to the operation of the 231
