I was just curious as to how many XJs here had the "mini" console... If you aren't sure what that is I can post a pic of mine.

My XJ is a 1991 and it has upper and ;lower consoles, It"s kinda like a rockett ride....:driving:

I bet this is only on the older XJs, like pre 1997 or earlier.

The mini was used in fleet vehicles and in MJs but most regular XJs had a full console.

I tried to post it on the forum (rather than linking), but it says it exceeds the forum quota by 25.6 KB... the picture itself is only 25.67 KB...so the forum only allows JPGs of .07KB? However in the attachment key it says 97.7 KB.... is there something wrong with the system or are only paid members allowed to attach... or is it user error?

Everyone has a disk space quota. You cannot exceed that fixed amount. Once you have hit your limit you cannot upload ANY picture no matter what it's size. You hit your limit. We keep the limit low because we'd rather have space for members and their posts than pictures or videos. It would be different if there were not free file sharing services out there like Photobucket. Putting images on Photobucket and Youtube also make the xjtalk site faster because we only transfer the text and those other sites transfer the larger files like pictures and video.

I hope that all made some sense.

No apologies necessary. We set up a small amount on purpose. You didn't hurt a thing. That error message that you get is cryptic. People always just keep making their picture smaller and smaller trying to get it to work.

well I have a full console but lately I have been tying with the idea of getting one of those universal center consoles from pep boys and cutting my existing one to use this as it has cup holders and a LOCKING console door the cup holders are what sold me anyhow Has anyone dove into a project such as this and where can I find this mini console to make it a cleaner look than just hacking mine .

i think you can get a locking box with cup holders from tuffy that just replaces the stock box and looks factory. just a thought.

didn't know that, I wonder how good the cup holders are. I never liked the upgraded cup holder things they only hold 12 oz cans pretty much

i had a 92 that i got some mug holders like the ones that you hang on the door. i cut off the part that hangs on the door and screwed it to the door trim where the window switches are and it worked great it will hold up to a 64 oz mug. i even had a 44 oz drink in it and i whet wheeling and did not spill anything. so can always do that. it is cheap and work great.

Hi, Looking for cup holders I found these consoles and they look cool, but I am not sure if they would fit on a 1986 Cherokee. Somebody has them?

The first one won't fit unless you relocate the e-brake handle/mechanism to the left side of the driver's seat or to a Comanche foot e-brake.

The second one will fit as it is specifically for the Cherokee and has the e-brake slot.

If cup holders are what you are after, then you may want to try this. I took the factory cup holders and sawed off the bottom and remounted it like this. Works well and doesn't hit my wife's leg or anything.

Hasn't been a problem so far. It is also in the same position as one you can get for late model consoles.

I have a cell phone holder there on one those flexible rods. It takes up very little space on the passenger side and when big people get in there they push the top into the shifter. So basically they have to hold their knee away from it.

i have a mini console in my rig it was a government fish and game xj with rubber instead of carpet and manual windows just the basic cheapo model :)
