This has gradually gotten worse over time. When I use my heater it smells like something is soured, with a hint of coolant in the mix. I keep a check on my coolant level and it does leak a lil but not very much. It got real bad after I used some stop leak to fill up a small hole in my radiator.

Could my heater core be the culprit?

I'm prob going to flush just the heater core this weekend. Found this write up (http://www.olypen.com/craigh/heater.htm) on it.

Funny thing is my heat works fine. So I dont know if its the heater core...

Anyone else have this issue?

Probably. They can develop very small leaks that don't drip, but simply evaporate giving you this smell.

Yes! Smells funky. Mine doesn't have a smell of coolant though. Last year it did.

My temp varies from about 100 degrees to 120 out of the A/C vents with the fan set to low.

There is another cause for bad smell. If you smell mildew or something a little rotten it is the condensate in the AC condenser. It is also a common problem in houses.

I wonder if you can spray Lysol in the air inlet to kill that smell generator.

There are fungicide deodorant tablets we use in the HVAC industry that desolve over time.

You could fish a piece of one through the drain with the hose removed.

I need to find me some of those tablets and flush the foul smelling thing out. lol

I will check my passenger side carpet this afternoon when I get off and make sure its damp. That would prob contribute to the smell if it stays soggy. I really Hope its dry. I dont feel like taking the dash out and putting in a new heater core.

Your heater core is in the center right over the tranny tunnel. You can reach a finger up inside through where the floor heat comes out.

Methane is actually odorless. It needs things in it so you know it is there. You are actually providing a safety service.:jumping0041:
