Today, 1 in 150 individuals is diagnosed with autism, making it more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined. It occurs in all racial, ethnic, and social groups and is four times more likely to strike boys than girls. Autism impairs a person's ability to communicate and relate to others. It is also associated with rigid routines and repetitive behaviors, such as obsessively arranging objects or following very specific routines. Symptoms can range from very mild to quite severe”. (from Autism Speaks website)

Hey that's great. Someone put in a lot of time to make this possible. Great job. I hope someone will have some pictures they can share with us of the event.

That is just a hint xjjeepthing. You may have to compete against Hummers so don't hurt their feelings too badly. If you have a H2 Recovery Team sticker make sure it is visible so you can help them get their $40,000 vehicle unstuck.

Thought I remembered that sticker, thus the mention above of them. You be safe and have fun. This is an excellent cause that gets way to little attention.

I had a blast today, unbelievable. It was so awesome to see 2 clubs 1 Jeeps and 1 Hummers get together and raise alot of money for a good cause by doing the thing we all love, Wheelin. It wasn't about Jeepers hating Hummers or vise versa. I hate a lot of pics to load. Im exhausted.

The Chippewa Offroad Area is first class. All the roads leading to and from trails are paved. Remember this is used for the testing of and teaching offroad techniques to H1,H2,H3 and military Humvees. We got to experience everything. Simple Trail ride,Mud,Water,Rocks, decents, inclines and everything in between.

Anyone need to be recovered? Hummers included! I saw some relatively stock looking rigs and they seemed to do OK. Did you guys raise much for the charity?

xjjeepthing
06-14-2009, 04:44 PM
There was some recovery. The trails were designated what tire size and with or without lockers and so on. There was no straying from it. It was hard to take pics and drive. LOL

Trail 1 - Stock or lightly modified vehicles, gentle grades, fairly wide, and shallow water if any. This did challenge stock vehicles in spots.
Trail 2 - Lightly modified vehicles, min 31" tire, rough terrain, mud and water.
Trail 3 - Modified, min 33" tire, front & rear recovery points, deep mud, slopes, up to 22" water.
Trail 4 - 4 Highly modified, min 35" tire, rear locker, very deep mud, up to 30" water

The big change to this was we had 3 or so inches of rain 2 days before the run and 1" mid day while we were there. Water was much deeper trails were alot slipperier and much more challenging.
Heres a couple of Vids my buddy took.

We had a blast. The Hummer club were a great bunch. I have 2 invites from guys in there group to go wheelin. Warn Winches was there to support this as well. Not sure how much stuff they donated for a raffle but just about everybody got something. The early word is around $4000 raised.

Which level of difficulty did you run, 2 or 3? I wish you had contacted me, I would have driven up to go. Is this going to be a yearly event? Maybe I can make it next year!:D

I ran 1 in the morning and 2 in the afternoon. Wouldn't let me do 3. It will be an annual event. Kim love to have you there. You'd have to join the club to go. I will tell you there descritption of one is a bit misleading. There alot of off camber and inclines that stock rigs struggled with

Who and why couldn't you do 3? I think the pictures may have been taken with several "still" cameras, but what camera did you use? I know how much of a pain it can be to take pictures when you are having fun, so thank you for taking them, and collecting them from others. Again assuming you got them from multiple sources.

Those H1 hummers (at least the yellow one) needed more height and better mud tires. It surprises me to see off road vehicles attempting the mud with the ATs.

I have lots of friends that took pictures and sent them to me. I use a Kodak m1063 not a real high dollar camera, but works well.
Trail 3 required
Modified suspension , min 33" tire, front & rear recovery points, deep mud, slopes, up to 22" water and suggested lockers

Just curious about the camera. The pictures were very good.

Sounds like I'd be good with the exception of the 33's. I'd really like to have a locker too. :(
