i know it looks like you have lot of flex but try doing that on a real rock. Not a fork lift you will always have more flex with the lift. jk i don't have realy any pics other then this one. sorry we have alot of snow on the ground right now so i will have to get some, some time later. heres the only one i have and this was not all flexed out i was by my self so i did not know where i was at so i stoped.

None of the XJ yet, but here's one of the YJ. Couldn't stuff the rear all the way due to bs of the street wheels. Flex should be much better with the other set.

Hey what a co-incidence that we were talking about tires the other day. I just found a set of used 33" pro comp tires in good shape kinda cheap I'm hoping I can come up with the cash before they sell and then i can sell my 31's to replace the cash.

wasnt a roll over. just a low speed tip... passenger window was only about a foot and a half from the ground when it decided to topple. the fender flares are the early models. they pull the sheet metal screws out of the fender before they
break. rubbed'em on trees, and worse... and still in one piece. had to find new mounting solutions... most of the bolt heads pulled through the fare.... ive heard of a new plastic formula used on newer models tho. keep mind ive run mine at temps of -50*C.

crushed the left rear fender on a tree. flare is still uncracked...

Very Very Happy with the goodyears, No SuperSwamper in thick mud but no slug either, I recently ran 2 mudruns and they did just fine, no medal finish but I made it through the 250ft of slop, Street manners are awsome, wear seems very good so far, in the rocks they are very very good, I run them at anywhere from 10-13lbs OEM rims as you can see in pic no Beadlock, for straight mud they would probably work better with better gear ratio for even more wheel spin, Snow is unknown yet havent tried them, The Granite is a local powerline we run here in Gatineau Quebec, all and all happy with my XJ been wheeling it 2 years and no major failures, I dont drive it like a buggy but still put it through its paces.

I tell my wife, Hey! I make mistakes all the time, and I'm happy to admit it. Well I made a mistake once. No, my bad, I was right that time too! :rotfl2:

I actually screwed up here coming out of a ravine wrong and bound the wheels up into the wheel wells and came to an abrupt stop..It was so twisted my copilot Brad couldn't get the back door or hatch open to get the strap. I ended up crawling through the drivers door.

No current XJ, I'm trying to trade out my WJ Grand for one, or sell the WJ. I had the quad because both of my girls and wife were riding quads and it just worked out better. They were to scared to ride with dad in the XJ. As far as $ goes, Quads were way more money, I had 4 quads at between 2-6K each and a 4 place trailer for another 2K :rolleye0018: I just want another XJ to play with now.

TeXJ
06-25-2012, 01:33 PM
Yeah I was thinking I could have the jeep I have now or a quad that would be basically stock. Plus I can drive my jeep if I need to, and it has come in handy when the wife needs to drive it.

Better flex, 7" or so stretch, and a fraction of the cost of any lift kit. The rides great and there is no death wobble or bump steer. It could probably use some bumpstops but when the springs go I'll just find some more stock waggy leafs.

Pretty average I know but it is only a 2" lift, no trimming required and a daily driver....

2" is 50.5mm for clarification, but it is hard enough the gooberments and the prius brigade are already trying their hardest to get rid of 4wds as it is despite the fact that most of the country is desert and we have some of the harshest terrain and worst roads in the developed world but the do-gooding prius w*nkers never leave the city to know what is happening elsewhere.
As it is here in Queensland we can only legally fit a tyre that is 15 millimetres (between 9/16 & 5/8") larger in diameter then stock so for an Xj that came from the factory with a 225/75/15 the largest legal size is a 235/75/15 which is this size....

This is legal
http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x451/junglejuice72/17062011061_resize.jpg

This is definitely illegal (31's)
http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/x451/junglejuice72/10042012140_resize-1.jpg

If we fit a 30" tyre which is the same width as 225 but a taller profile and we have an accident that could be attributed to reduced braking performance then it is off to jail.....

If we have our tyres out past the guards - illegal...
If we have no rear mudflaps - illegal...
Adjustable control arms that haven't been inspected and approved by an engineer - illegal...
Rettro fitted HID headlights - illegal (and so they should be)
Larger headlight globes then standard - illegal...

It goes on...

Sucks eh?

Not to mention the gun laws you guys have. Man, and excuse my ignorance on the matter, tim to start voting in people that know whats up. I do understand how the bigger cities can use their larger numbers to push their agendas.

Just to add to JJ's info .....

6" lifts have been allowable down here since .... since .... ohhhh donkeys years ago ... but they had to be engineered/approved/inspected.

Generally, the rule used to be ... 1/3 of of stock travel was an allowable / no questions asked, lift height on a vehicle.

Whats happening now is .... The Aust. regulations are being unnescessarily changed ... to something very similiar but more restrictive than what they originally were anyway  ... for the protection of those brain dead pedestrians ... who have the right - to stick their their nose in a newspaper, plug their ears with ipod speakers ... and wander aimlessly amongst the traffic.

... and they arent even our pedestrians ... since most new Federal transport rules all appear to be UN/Euro documents with "Aust Gubberment", rubber stamped across the top ...

The current trend for 4wd big lifts and rubber is also something fairly new, amongst street use vehicles down here ...
We dont have a history of huge lifts & tyres on street use vehicles down here ...
No 3ft high snow drifts in our cities .... and our public access roads - are all in a shade better condition - than the rubicon trail ... :D

...... Seems to be a phenomea associated with the advent of the internet, and chrysler sticking its nose back in the car market down here - a few years back .. ;)

The reason I was wondering is because, like was mentioned, most of australia would be awesome to go wheeling on. But it seems like the tires that are on the rigs are almost "stock" looking. Most of the spots that people are getting stuck in could easily be maneuvered, thinking of the Gall Boys here, with a little bigger tire/tyre.

We have guys here that are running 35's but they aren't all that legal.....

Different states have different regulations which also makes things difficult.

And yes we do have some great spots, some very harsh terrain including one of if not the most remote road in the world, the Canning Stock Route.....

This is right before I got my 33's.... I was still on 31's and my fenders/rear quarters weren't cut yet. I probably could have came up a bit more, but w/o being in the rig, I was a little hesitant...
