Moab is coming next spring and it is time to start getting ready for it. Paul's TJ doesn't run. We were putting a 4.7L V8 and 45RE tranny in it and it just didn't work out. The electronics are not compatible. They just won't talk to each other. It was getting more and more difficult to wire it, so the kid took pity on me and let me off the hook. So I was demoted from awesome and can do anything to awesome and can do most things :P So we are starting again with compatible stuff. We decided to take a que from Wayne and use a 5.2L. So, here we go. We got a Grand with a 5.2L for $600. Now you need to understand something, I used to live at North Lake Tahoe, never went to the south end except to run a few ski races. Always thought there were too many people there. But, my XJ came from there. We hauled the TJ were are working on from there and now we picked up this ZJ there. Beginning to think we just aught to move there. It is a nice place to live if you can afford it.

So here it is. A little rough on the outside, decent on the inside. However there was a little drama getting it on the trailer. Didn't get any pics up there, so I had to do the reverse getting it off.

It is embarrassing to say that this Jeep doesn't have enough break over angle to get it on and off a trailer. So, a little red neck ingenuity is called for.

Put the floor jacks under the ramps and backed it off

When I loaded it, had a guy drive up from down the street to give me the  And here he thought he was going to get a viral video out of it :smiley-taunt002:

I was going to bring some bigger tires to aid in the trailer off load. Looks like the neighbors got a good laugh since that was in the front yard and not out back at the shop. How's that ZJ Drive? Thinking of gutting the axles into the other tj. The one I use for a daily driver.

Since the coolant leaks out of it, I haven't driven it any further than to the shop. But it did fine for that far

Good luck with this. It's funny how that a possible kick-start to my WJ "minor build" arrived recently, and the wife mentioned Moab today. I can't see how at the moment, but it would be awesome to be out there at the same time as your trip, and we could get Bob (BadLuck on XJTalk) to plan ahead to take some time off and be our guide.

Again, I have no idea how the wife and I can, but I'll be following along, at least in spirit.

We would be glad to have you . We are planning on attending Easter Jeep Safari, so plans must be made in advance. They provide guides. We have several that want to go from this forum and Cherokee Talk also.

I am taking off time around the 4th to wrench on the WJ, here's hoping. We have been twice to Moab, and I am more than ready to go again. Still get hard time from wife about driving Hells Revenge completely solo, trip in Explorer had to be more sedate.

Nina Barlow has a rental shop there too, we had great luck with her rental rigs in AZ.

From what I have sen of Hells Revenge, more than doable in that WJ

I was wondering if I might try to verify that with a repeat experience :D

Convinced the kid to show up for the honors of putting the finishing touches on pulling the motor.

Got the motor positioned, made new trans mount and two new motor mounts and welded them in. Pulled it out of the shop though

I knocked out the rear diff in the truck bringing that ZJ down out of the mountains. Neighbors are getting a good laugh listening to me drive it grinding and clanking, so I picked this boat anchor up cheap for it. Since I always overload that poor truck, it is time for it to grow up a little and run with the big dogs.

That will go in this weekend and it is back to the shop for Barbie II

Like the V8 Jeep build II... And that anchor should definitely beef up the rear end of the old tow rig!!

It has been awhile since the kid has been around to work on his rig. He had his woes with his other tJ so I spend A couple of days at his place and got the clutch straightened out. So I took matters in my own hands. Went to put the transfer case in and found the input gear was too long. Turns out I needed the shortest of these inputs. Then I got the shift collar in backwards :bang: So I took it out and apart again and finally got it right.

This tcase has a Terra 2WD low kit in it, so a different linkage was needed. I built this one out of some odds and ends
