Ill start where the other thread left off.
I finished the rear fender cut and fold. Which the PO did a half job on. Driver side was cut and fold and the passenger side was just cut. So passenger side was welded back together. Still need some seam sealer in there which I'm ready for now. Since I mounted the tj flares . also mounted the driver front seat. I sit higher now and the seats hold me in better then the stock ones did.

I bought some cheap A pillar light mounts which I also got mounted and just need to find some lights. Also install the stock rear bumper off of my 89 since the 92 didn't have one. Its on there for now since I will be building a rear bumper soon. After I finish sorting out the interior. Which consists of swapping the passenger front seat to match. Install and modify the rear zj seat. Make some sheet metal cargo area panels to cover the holes where the stock plastics would be if it had any. And since I have a spare tire now that I bought 4 more 35s. I can work on my cargo basket. Since I will be carrying my spare in the cargo area. But don't want to just stack everything on top of the spare. Its like a yard sale everytime you need to get your spare out.

Also I have another set of doors off of a 86 I got free from a buddy. Which are manual windows. I'm going to tackle the task of swapping from power to manual. Then use the 86 doors as half doors. Which are light blue I will paint them in black bedliner. Lots of plans and a going list but stopped adding thing to do. Till I get closer to finishing what I have which is a ton of work.

Hey James, do you have plans for those 86 door skins? I have a half door project in mind and those have a different latch than the later ones

Half doors was my plan. Till you gave me bad news lol. How different are they?

The 87+ use a stud, the pre 87 use a metal loop that looks like the top of a staple

Ok, now for the important question are the latches interchangeable in the door?

I still need to get the door side of the door hinges to make swapping full door to half door and back easier. If they are interchangeable ill just add it to my list of junkyard goodies I need to pick up.

That is a good question, I don't know

Sounds like the build is coming along nicely.. I like the half door build plan.. Wouldn't mind doing that one day for my 97.. I like the doorless look, but at the same time, like the structural rigidity that the doors create.. I know that half doors won't give all that rigidity, but will give more than nothing there at all.. and create more safety for the little one when she's in the XJ too...

This post needs pics!!!!!!

I have been considering a half or tube door, think it might look good on a 2 door.

Yeah been trying to get pics posted. Having an issue with attaching pics.

My last jeep I had tube doors and loved them. From the looks I got running them to the visibility on the trail. The only down side was cold mornings and highway driving in cold mornings. Lol

My goal with half doors is to have the benefits I had with the tube doors but make cut the cold mornings down with a little better heat retention. I'm going to just cut the window area off but keep stock mirror location so I can use stock mirrors or my flop shop mirrors I bought. And be able to use all or most of a factory door panel.

Yup cold mornings up here in Canada are a problem, I am thinking of drilling out the pins and making easily removable doors.

Well, I am hoping James will sell me his door skins, but I have a solution to the weather. I was going to cut out a good portion of the lower door and have a welded in hoop that would have a soft top window that was removable, like one of my old CJ doors had

Thanks, I will. Two doors have been non existent in the pick and pulls here. Everything of real value is snapped up by a Jeep only yard that has prices near to new stuff. Probably be up there Christmas some time

Yeah. We have a local jeep/chevy yard (all they deal in) ok prices on some stuff and crazy prices on others. I bought an alternator for $25 that was tested before it was sold to me. Then I asked about manual doors and got $100 for just the skin. For around $65 I can get a full door at PnP.

From looking at my door the 86s have a stud latch.

I picked up some seam sealer and some flex seal to finish sealing up the rear fender wells. Also bought two 5" round convex mirrors for my flop shop trail mirrors. Going to paint them tomorrow along with my wiper arms to refreshing them before install with new wiper blades.

Ok well over the weekend I got some work done and a few steps closer to driving this thing.

I got my flop shop trail mirrors on and love the look. Definitely different with round mirrors and not square like stock.

Sealed up the rear fender wells. Used a silicone base sealant then sprayed flex seal over it. Need to do another coat of flex seal but in will hold up. If I can seal up a cracked tank on a toilet with it. so It should hold up.

A mid week junkyard trip. I was lucky enough to find some xj wagoneer tail lights that I couldn't pass on. The chrome/grey trim around the headlights were faded some. So when I painted my mirrors and wiper arms I taped the off as well and everything got a satin black treatment.
