How does the computer know when you modify the fuel injectors from one to four jets? Does it matter?

It shouldn't matter. The fuel/air ratio which is the result of the injector squirt is monitored real time via information from the O2 sensor. So it doesn't matter as far as emissions go, but you can get a smoother idle and maybe a little horsepower from the four hole injectors
