Why the warning about Teflon tape?

I can only imagine there are warnings about the use of teflon tape due to it clogging up the fuel system... IIRC, the fuel breaks it down, similar to how it eats a foam cup if you pour fuel in it.., and then the pieces go through and clock up system components..
