What is your honest opinion on jeep rat rods? Since I have a couple extra JK tubs and parts, and motors, transmission, axles and transfer cases out of the J10's to get rid of. I got it in my head to just throw it all together into a JK rat rod..... I hate to scrap it all it's all good servicable stuff...and I hate dealing with people on Craigslist, anyway thought Id ask you guy's what you think.

It's worth a try, who knows what you will end up with? A new must have?

Personally it makes me sad when I see a Jeep turned into anything but a working off road vehicle. But I hate to see good stuff go to the junk yard too. Tough call.

I got a title problem on the JK also, it's salvage and must go back through a inspection were everything must work including airbags and abs....you get the jist....West Virginia has a homebuilt process that I can sneak a rat rod through similar to the titling I did when I built my own trailer for the teardrop...Not a must have but something I could sell.

Thought it might be a cool father and son project, just let Clayton design it how he wants. He likes all that sword and skull stuff.

I designed one a few years ago just because I hadn't seen a jk rod before. I like jeep rat rods personally. There's tons of offroad jeeps so why not something a little different. If you love jeeps, why not have a street specific jeep? :D

Looks awesome and I could probably drop the body on an s10 chassis like the rest of the guy's do and make that all work. Problem is time and money like always, if I do a rat style rod I can use what I got and leave the paint alone and get it done for around a 1000 bucks. This front spring style setup is cheap at speedway and by using the 4x4 axle I have then I can move forward with just welding wire and cuttoff wheels.. or you could just come buy all this JK stuff I got and I could return some money to my car fund. :D This is my thinking....

I think it would be really cool to do a JK Rat rod using almost all scrap parts you have laying around, maybe use a stroker 4.0L out of an XJ or an AMC 360 V8 out of a J10. Neither would make a ton of power, but would be enough to make it fun without (hopefully) getting your son into too much trouble.

Now that I think about it, I got myself into too much trouble in high school with less than 100hp, so you might not even need/want to stroke that 4.0L. :rolleye0012::smiley-scared003:

I have been wondering what a 4 door JK rat rod would look like.
