Once in awhile someone panics because the lower shock mounting stud breaks on the rear axle. Some try welding, some put bolts in. But the best way is to recreate the original mounting. It is really easy. First you have to take a trip to the pick and pull and get the upper shock mounting stud from any C or K series Chevy pickup, blazer or suburban 2 or 4WD. Remove the shock and then remove the nut on the back side inside the frame rail. Usually lots of room there to get a ratchet on it. Shown is a pair of them along with one in the upper shock on probably the largest shock you can buy without going to coil overs. The backside stud comes in two sizes, 1/2 & 5/8". To mount drill the proper size hole so the stud fits snug in the hole. No oversize or oval holes. Cinch down the nut and it is ready to go. also can be used for custom mounting applications too
