I built this xj cutdown wheeled it and sold it to my brother a couple years ago when money got tight. Good news is he's starting a new buggy build out of a burnt 2015 2 dr JK so it came up for sale and I got it back.. I've alway's regretted selling in, needless to say I'm pumped to be able to get it back...:bacondance:

Started life as a 1985 xj 2 dr with a 4 cyl 5 speed. I swapped it over to 96 model 4.0/aw4/231

http://i311.photobucket.com/albums/kk468/bainj11/DSCF0037_zpsedbd6728.jpg

Cut away everything I didn't need and put steel back in.

http://i311.photobucket.com/albums/kk468/bainj11/DSCF0062_zps07b6c59d.jpg

I plug welded box tubing up in the rear unibody then welded a 2x6 rear crossmember in. I rolled another piece to on the corners later.

http://i311.photobucket.com/albums/kk468/bainj11/DSCF0067_zps780b8de5.jpg

I removed the front crossmember and plated the front unibody and put a piece of 2x6 box in there to, so I had a place to land the exo and put the winch on.

Sent it off to my buddy's and we bent of the exo.

Boat sided it, painted it green wheeled it with a D30 and 8.8 for awhile but that all went bad...LOL I later built a D44 for the front, detroit, and RCV's.

My brother Jerry bought it, and we painted it red cause he hated the green built a cowl hood for it, cut down a nose piece and changed a bar or two in the front he didn't like. Then he put aluminum beadlocks and 39.5's on it. and that's how it sits today. I gotta admit the red looks alot better then the green.

And my all time favorite pic of me sitting on top of a trail called "On the trailer" because I finally made the top after being "Put on the trailer" in the two previous attempts.. :D

I recognize that jeep! It's been the "Featured XJ" on the xjtalk home page for a couple years. Mighty fine rig. One you don't have to worry about the body. Quite capable too by the looks of it.

Sent via messenger pigeon. I talk, he types.

That's a very nice rig... I've been looking at it quite a bit on the main page, as the featured Jeep too... I have to say I really like the Green much better on the XJ though... but that is just my opinion.. Either way, look forward to seeing what you do with her now that you have gotten her back...

Thanks guy's, I'm off on another tangent right now and I'm building a couple winch bumpers but I'm hoping to get time to wheel more this fall. I'm so done with the whole mowing grass on Saturday's...LOL

Here's a good pic of the underside of "The Jank" when my brother rolled it off a ledge in V-gap this spring... Everything held up good except for a dent in the exo on drivers side.

Nice.. I have a friend down in SC, that built a truggy... well started to, got the tubing all done... and for whatever reason, ended up with a Wrangler buggy now, so he sold his truggy... if he had listed it for sale about a week earlier, when I was down in SC, I would have snagged it in a heartbeat... Then I would have the truggy to romp on, and definitely wouldn't have any shattered hatch glass... lol.. Will definitely be keeping an eye out for someone selling XJ truggy... or see if I can talk him into building another one... even if it is running stock axles and such for a bit... got to start somewhere...

Wish I had the money and knew someone like you that I could have build a truggy out of a 97+ XJ... Figure once I move back down to SC, I'm going to get up with the guy down there that I was referring to who started to build up one before selling it.. Figure he always has like 15+ XJ's in his back yard he is parting out.. some with titles some not... so figure I can hit him up and pick up a decent shape as far as "frame", floors and drivetrain... and can have a trashed body.. to pick it up for a truggy build.. no point in picking up a nice shape XJ for $4k or anything like that to hack up and turn into a truggy.. but either way will be a slow over time build anyways... if/when I ever take on that build..

Gotta start somewhere, I think I gave 200 dollars for "The Jank" when I bought it. I wasn't worried about anything but finding a usable 2 dr, I just didn't think I could get a 4 dr to look like I wanted it to and I wanted the big doors. Didn't look like much when I got it....LOL
