On my 98 Xj, I can grab the front driveshaft at the slip yoke, and it's got some play to it. It's not much, but it's there. I'm trying to track down a vibration, and the only other thing I can find is that my LF ujoint has a tiny bit of play. You can hear the click more than you can feel it. And the yoke has more play than the ujoint.

As I recall my front axle has a bit of play but that's the dana 30. Friend told me not to worry about it, but it was freaky.

I bet the vibration is the ujoint. You could always pop the diff cover and do an inspection, change the oil if it's been a while.

Well after swapping with a good front driveshaft, there is no more play, but I still get a bad vibration, or more of a tire wobble. It happens around 55, and seems to get worse when I let off the gas. I'm going with its a tire wobble. I will rotate them next and see what happens.

How is your rear pinion angle?

jack up one side at a time ..grab front tire at 12 o'clock and 6 o'clock and check for any movement , repeat on other side ....bad hubs /bearings or whatever yall call em over there will cause a vibration at certain speeds ....

My rear pinion angle is good. This is definitely from the front. It's pretty much all in the steering wheel from what I can tell.

The passenger hub is new from right before I got it, and I checked the front end today, ball joints, tie rods, and bearings are all as tight as can be.

a little rotational play is normal. up and down play in the yoke is not normal. forget the name of it, but the yoke joint thingy is serviceable

Ive since installed a new driveshaft that i had laying around, and the vibration is still there. Next step will be rotating the tires, and replacing the front rotors (i know they are causing my brake pulsation, so ill replace them while im in there), even though they are probably not causing my highway speed wobble.

centering yoke is what I looking for.

Yea, I'm at 4.5" and have vibes up front. Having done most of what you have, it's a jeep, I just drive it. got tired of chasing that little issue.

Next for me is CA bushings and new upper arms...

Yeah im about at that point. I MAY get the tires balanced to see if thats it, but i dont want to drop $60 on getting them balanced if i need new ones anyways. Hopefully the rotation will tell me if its the tires or not.

I may also order a new Rough Country 2.2 steering stabilizer just because.
