Me and the Mrs. took a trip to the antique stores looking for some stuff to fill up the new house. Well we walked around the corner and I saw this little gem sitting on the floor. SBE Console II CB base station and an Astatic D-104 microphone. Needless to say I snapped it up for the whopping price of $12, and it works! :D

Not bad for $12 even if to put on the shelf in the shack.

I've never used one, but what is the big deal with the D-104?

I really don't know but it sure is cool looking. Some guys are converting them to work with the modern transceivers.

People really liked the D104 mic. I had the no amplified version on my Heathkit HW-101. I think their popularity on the CB band was the way they looked. I never liked the sound of them. When I was doing the CB base thing I used the Turner +2 microphone. It was a great little mic and produced good audio.

But wasn't as "cool" as the d-104 mics. :D

My first CB was a Sonar FS-23. Tube radio. This thing was old technology when I got it. I think I was 13 and it cost $100

Pretty cool. I was in one recently and they had some old cbs but I was in a hurry and the guy had everything marked up so I didn't pay too much attention. Did get some cool old reading materials though. :D

Sent via messenger pigeon. I talk, he types.
