hi all, can someone please post a link to a good write up on how to change heater core, have read a couple , and some say dash out some say dont.... mines gone bad, have started to take dash apart but want to make sure im doing the right thing..:boohoo:.... cheers and thank you......:thumbsup:

Isn't yours RHD. If so our links may be backward compared to your Jeep. Our heater core would be behind your instruments.

hi blue, yep rhd but heater is on the left.. looked under the hood and thats were the heater hose goes in..(i hope..)would be the same kinda just on the otherside :)..just seems like a lot of stuff to undo... its kinda half off already.... bet ya this little DIY will have bolts left over...:rolleyes:

One thing I'm going to do is flush the heater core. I've read it will do wonders. I've also read it will cause a leak. I guess it just depends on the condition of the heater core.

It is also dependant upon the pressure used. A slow reverse flow may be all that is required in most cases.

Good point! You don't want to run a lot of pressure through there!

On a Ford the hoses are the same size,so if you switch the 2 hoses it reverses direction of flow and sometimes it will unclog on it's own.I don't know if the hoses are the same size on a Jeep.

no problems, or no one has said anything.. i like to have it close , when my trans let go at 100 kph there was smoke everywhere, didnt know what is was at the time thought jeep was on fire. told wife and boy to get out, leaned over got extinguisher as i was getting out ..so yehn thats why i like mine there....:thumbsup:

Yeah it looked like a handy place. The only negative I could think of was it being uncomfortable for the passenger.
