I came across a post on my neighborhood site that said this...

Needless to say, I enlisted the help of Patrick (prcjeep) to bring his motorcycle trailor over and help me pick it up. After getting it home, we hooked up my jump box and put some fresh gas in it and got it to fire up. It ran kinda rough and we couldn't give it any throttle, but I'll try to clean the carb out and see how she runs after.

It needs new master cylinders and a new battery, which I'm ordering today since the tax return came in. Then I'll change the oil and try to get it running better. The current plan is to spend $200 max and hopefully get a grand out of it. Here are the other pics I have of it currently

Looks like it could be a fun little ride to play with and even more so if you got it for free.. and can fix it up and turn around and sell it for a nice profit!!

Yup. I've never really wanted a scooter. Well, maybe a vespa, but I find myself excited to get this thing running and driving. It's supposed to get 75 mpg.

I just ordered the battery from amazon and master cylinders from ebay... damn chinese scooters and your hard to find parts. Oh well, those items only put me back $80, so I cant complain.

It's a Yamaha "clone" engine so a lot of parts are available and cheap.

The make/model is a Diamo Turisra 300 but it's all Linhai parts. Is Linhai a Yamaha?

Ive had a few scooters throughout the years, and man, weve had some good times on those things!

Youre going to love it once its all sorted out!

"Clone" engine means, it's the same style/design and some parts will interchange. All those Chinese and Asian scooters copy each other's designs so a lot of parts will interchange.

I have a Honda Ruckus. About to drop a 87cc (Big Bore 50cc) Yamaha engine into it.

So I took a few minutes and installed the new battery that came in yesterday. I didn't want to run it too long until I get the oil changed. It's been in there for a minimum of 4 years and who knows how much longer. It will run, but wants to die if you give it any throttle. Looks like I'll be cleaning out the carb soon.

Yup. Make sure the jets are not gummed up. Your actual engine when looking for performance parts is called a Linhai engine. You can change jets just like an automotive carb. Also learning to tune your CVT can be fun. You can increase acceleration or top speed by a simple roller weight change.

Yeah I've been learning a lot about the CVT setups, with a little chinese dune buggy my dad has... as well as the engine as a whole... Would love to pick up a bigger CC engine for the dune buggy, then take the 150cc engine off of it, and put it on a decent little scooter... have quick little rides then... The dune buggy has been a blast... just needs some transmission (CVT) love right now, to get it back up and going (what better time to upgrade)!!! LOL

The GY6 150cc engine can be upgraded via simple cyl head kits. There's a 160,170 and 180cc setup. These can be had for around 150-300 depending on the supplier. I not only fix Keeps but various cars and bikes for friends as well.

So I got a few minutes to work on it today. The master cylinders I ordered were the wrong ones. The brake line was on the wrong side of the cylinder, the mirror hole was the wrong size and the brake switch connector was completely different. I was going to make it work anyways, but then the right side master cylinder was leaking. Ugh

Im sure you know this, but pull those jets out and use a wire to run through them to clean them out. Ive even used a few strands of speaker wire in a pinch. Even soaking them in cleaner for days wont get all the crud out.

Thanks bud. I soaked the hell out of them with carb cleaner and threw it back on for now. It runs and after a while I was able to give it throttle. Pegged the temp gauge, but I'll have to inspect the water level another time.

That is what's called a CV carb. Look at the two jets, the larger is the Main Jet and the smaller is the Slow Jet. The Slow Jet controls the fuel at an idle and low rpm usage. The Main is for throttle and high rpm usage. Those SJ's have a tendacy to plug really easy if it sits for too long.

Patrick came over and helped me bleed the brakes and got it running again. Took it for a spin down the street and back.... Not fun turning on low tires lol

Well, aired up the tires Sunday and took it out and about the neighborhood. Runs extremely well and is a ton of fun. Temp gauge likes to peg itself after a short while though... it's liquid cooled with no fan, so I'm hoping it's just a thermostat and not the radiator. Popped it up on craigslist and haven't had any bites yet. We shall see.
