If you didn't watch the Jeep Talk Show here are the pics from my radio com tech segment about the 2 meter Sprint contest I completed in a couple months ago or so.

The antenna is made out of PVC and a tape measure and is mounted to an extendable painters pole.

The tablet in the 2nd picture runs my APRS.

Let me know if there are any questions.

That looks like a good time.. Love how for the most part you can use standard stuff purchased @ local hardware store to build parts of these type setups!!

Ham radio does not have to be expensive...
But if you are good with common tools and like to experiment, you can have a ball!
I am accumulating stuff to build a screwdriver antenna.
Right at the moment, I am studying for my Extra and will be Testing this weekend!
Wish me luck!

I hope you used a metric tape measure .. ;);)

Good job .. ... reminds me of a coax dipole I made for chasing skip, back in the old 27mhz SSB days down here.

Automatic Packet Reporting System.. I did a couple segments on it on the
Podca......nevermind. :P

It uses ham radio to report my location and what frequency i am on among other telemetry, i can see other users, call them on the radio, send them a message, among other things. Its a situational awareness tool.

Well, Passed the General and the Extra!
Was not as bad as I thought, just  and
powered through some serious study every night after work.
Then about 30 practice exams. Then, again, & Sat down and ripped through it!
Now I need to get Mudderoy to let me look at his set up up close!

Go for broke! once you're done...
YOU'RE DONE!

Now maybe I will apply all that smart stuff and enjoy my commute more!
I leave the house at around 4:30 am every day for a 1.5 hr commute, no traffic unless the cows get out and that would be a great time to get some mid-day traffic (HF) from Europe!
I just can't wait!

Once I took a few practice tests on my android phone, I found where I was lax and hammered some late night candles and got it done!
I will be rooting for you!
