Just a reminder that I offer a darn good discount to XJTalk.com members... PM me for details.

PLUS: If you find an advertised deal on Rough Country anywhere else, let me know as I will try to beat it.

I stock most all Jeep XJ stuff locally so even if others are out of stock on some items, there is a good chance that I have them.

Since buying an XJ as well as working on many of them in my shop I believe that ss of recently I think that my knowledge of Jeep XJ's is on par with my knowledge of Toyota Land Cruisers (FJ-40) so if I don't have a XJ product to fit your need... I should be able to find one for you.

Here's a small list of stuff that I've got for XJ's. It is by NO means everything I can sell.

I got to thinking that my statement of: "Largest ROUGH COUNTRY full service dealer in the WEST!" might scare some of the mid-west and east coast buyers so I want to clarify that even though we stock most Rough Country XJ parts here in WA State (West) we can most certainly get your (East) parts shipped out faster by drop shipping to you from the Rough Country warehouse in TN.

Essentially we offer pretty fast shipping no matter where you are and we absolutely give XJTalk.com members the best prices possible on Rough Country lift kits and accessories.

Just remember to mention XJTalk.com when you contact us for prices!

I ordered a lift from Ron a week ago. I just installed it and I have to say that I give him an A+ on service and pricing. He beat everyones price and answered all my questions right away. I would refer him any day.

Hmmmm... I was just at the Rough Country warehouse in TN... drove back from WA... nothing was said to me about a long arm kit.

BUT: that does not mean they are not doing such. I've been a Rough Country dealer for many years and I admit that they continue to surprise and impress me with their new products.

With that said I will be asking them if this rumor is true. I will post back what I hear.

As of one hour ago Rough Country confirmed the iminate release of long arm kits for TJ and XJ. (I happened to be on the phone with them after reading this thread so I thought I'd ask ) They are set to be released any day now as per Rough Country. I'm sure Ron will get the the release very soon so hang in there !!!!

Payless 4X - I LOVE your avatar!!! I'm an old school junkie and your avatar got my attention.

As for the long arms... dang! Up until now I've usually had a little advance warning about future Rough Country products. :(

I will do what I can to post up more details if RC gives them to me.

Well we've tried to change it but we always come back to it. It is actually drawn after the owners Jeep 46 cj2a with a 302 in it. he's had it since he opened this place 40yrs ago in an old Chicken coup of all things. So we kinda gotta respect it, and we still have alot of the NOS jeep parts in stock.

If I hear anything from RC I'll post up (they were the first company we became a dealer for, a little history there).
Thanks Mark

Ok I want to learn more about long arms. I thought they were in addition to a lift. Will this kit be a lift and a long arm, or are they built for two lift sizes, 4 and 6 inch?

You are correct in that long arms can be in addition to a lift you already have OR it can be part of a complete lift kit. You could add long arms to your current Rough Country lift kit or you could buy a whole new lift kit that came with long arms.

The main difference between long and normal/short arms is that a long arm allows for greater droop/drop in the suspension.

I could argue either for or against long arms but IMO: the "average" XJ owner will NOT need long arms.

I just read over on NAXJA that the Rough Country long arm kit should be released the 2nd week of November and the estimated price will be $495.

That's not official, just what a Rough Country employee posted. So about $500 and you can add long arms to your already lifted XJ.

xj4life2
10-21-2009, 03:36 PM
heard the same thing but no price quote on the add on kit, I was told the complete kit woud be in the $1200.00 range.Waiting for the release e mail and I will post up

Ok so I think this is a no brainer, but let me ask anyway. Gee I hope I didn't ask this already. So a long arm kit replaces both upper and lower control arms right? I mean it would have to. So I can spend $495 for long arms, or $179 for upper control arms (I still have the stamped factory ones).

I'll be the best articulated 4x4 on the road! They'll love me at the mall! :smiley-laughing021:

LOL!

4" XJ long arm complete kit is going to be priced about $1099.95
6" XJ long arm complete kit is going to be priced about $1249.95

Just the arms and hardware to make your current 4-6" lift a "long arm" suspension will be much less.

I don't have pricing on just the long arms yet but $495 sounds about right for a kit to add to your current lift to make it a long arm suspension.

I would like to sell a ton of the long arms but to be honest I don't see any hard pressed reason for the average XJ owner to buy the setup and do (or pay to have) all the extra work done to make their XJ a long arm.

IMO: A control arm drop kit and front adjustable control arms would be a huge step up from the current XJ 4.5" lift kit that you have. It would be less money all the way around and I highly doubt you couldn't go just about everywhere those with the long arm kit could go. In fact: I will take my stock leaf spring, stock driveline, stock t-case, stock axled FJ40 anywhere a long arm XJ could go. :D

With that said I totally "plan" to convert my wife's 1988 XJ to a Rough Country long arm kit just because it's the bomb! :rotfl2:  :smiley-laughing021:

I just installed the stainless steel brake lines on mine, the rear was no problem, with the front I had to change the bottom twice.I installed the bottom end of the line straight up next to the bleeder valve first ,it fit very flush this way but rubbed the tire at full lock,I then rotated the line down toward the rear and had to put 2 washers behind it but this seams to work with my 3.5" lift.I think they would fit better on a taller lift w/o as much slack.Nice product and I got a great deal from rough country on ebay for mine.
