When I listen to it on stitcher it sounds like a old episode from 2014.

My understanding is Stitcher downloads the podcasts to their site, then drops the bitrate, etc... so they don't have to stream the full audio quality to the end users. I think this is a stupid way of doing things, but it's not my company.
