I have another whats this question..............
I was under dash the other day and found a plug for something and was wondering if anyone could tell me what it's for. It is located up and to the right of my gas pedal, in front of where my center console starts.........ant ideas??

I'll guess it is the OBD connection.

No the data link connector is under the hood front left hand side by the ecm hmmmm Possably something to do with manual trans if you had one checked mine (1991) I don't have one. Possably 3rd gear switch on a manual ?? Not sure right now

OBD.......... the machine that they hook to your computer and check for codes, right??

I think your right, when I had my jeep looked at awhile back, I remember he had a machine hooked up inside my jeep to check for any codes.



No the data link connector is under the hood front left hand side by the ecm hmmmm Possably something to do with manual trans if you had one checked mine (1991) I don't have one. Possably 3rd gear switch on a manual ?? Not sure right now

what year is your jeep... OBD1 is under the hood and OBD2 is under the dash but i am pretty sure its a different connector. Do you have a tow package?

I have a 93, and I don't know if it has a tow package :)

Do you have power mirrors ?? if so do you have a adjustment switch in the center console ?? If that plug has seven contacts and you don't have power mirrors or you do but have no switch in the center thats probably what its for. Jeep never (that I know of) used a plug like that for trailer brakes I don't think they even wired for those but I could be wrong

I do have power mirrors, they work and the control button for them is up on my center console.

I really need to find where I put the owners manual for my Jeep, It might tell me. I know I have the manual, and that it's around here somewhere :smiley-scared002:
