When it rains, it pours. My sister, who's 34, started experiencing numbness on her left side. Arm, leg, side of her face, everything. She went to the ER the night before last, but they couldn't find anything with the equipment they had (she lives in the country and I think the hospital was Podunk Bumpkin General). There was some sort of equipment they didn't have, but they say that the symptoms point to a stroke. She's going in to another Dr today. My grandmother and mother both passed this year... I don't want the 3rd generation to follow suit.

Will definitely be praying. It has been a lot on you this year. I guess that just means good times are coming! Stay strong bro.

Thanks guys. SO good news is there was no stroke. She was experiencing severe dizziness and nausea so she went back into the ER. They were able to discover some pretty nasty bone spurs in her neck that are causing all of this. Next step is to talk to a neurosurgeon about what to do.

That is good to hear, although neck surgery is no fun either

Good news I think. Although I don't know much about bone spurs, I know no stroke is good. Continued prayers bro!!!

Thanks fellas... minor setback. Text from my sister this morning stated that she got the results from her MRI that was done last Friday and it showed 4 possible areas of stroke.

That particular MRI was done with contrast, and the one performed over the weekend in the ER was not. We're not out of the woods yet. She has an appointment with the neurologist tomorrow morning at 9am.

Latest update... I copied and pasted from my sister's facebook page. I'm lazy like that lol ;)

Ok here is the update. No stroke. Neurologist said basically there are 4 spots in my brain that can be a sign of 4 different issues. One being a stroke. The other 3 are migraines, MS, and vasculitus. Due to stress I probably developed a headache which inflamed those spots and made my face go numb. Neurologist said I do have nodules on my thyroid and a bulging disc in my neck. The bulging disc or the "protrusion" as he called it, is what caused the numbness in my arm and hand. I will be having physical therapy for that. He also put me on a muscle relaxer.
Cardiologist said since there was not a stroke that he didn't do that work up. However he was concerned of the vasculitus possibility. The fact I have had heart palpitations since high school did not help. So I have been hooked up to a heart monitor since yesterday. Luckily they are only 24 hr monitors and I got to grab a quick shower before I got another one on. Lol!
As far as the nodules the ER at Harris did call me to let me know if have them on BOTH sides of my neck (on each thyroid) so I need to follow up my pcp about that. Good thing my deductible is paid up through the end of the month! Lol!
