I just installed a class 3 hitch and need to wire up for my trailer. Do they make a plug play harness? Or do do I have to do the cut a splice thing? Any input would be great. Thanks!

I think they make plug and play harnesses for almost anything now a days. I can check mine when I get home, but I'm sure someone will chime in with more useful information by then :)

Check behind your left rear panel, you should have a four pronged plug there you can tap into for trailer lights.

Amazon.com: Tow Ready 118354 T-One Connector Assembly with Converter: Automotive@@AMEPARAM@@http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41wwH5oExQL.@@AMEPARAM@@41wwH5oExQL That's the one I ran in my 98 XJ, I used to have, as well as the one I just installed in the 97 XJ I have now.. Only took about 10 minutes for me to install, and that was only cause I cut into he grommet to run the wire through, but you can do as many others have done, and just leave it tucked inside the cargo area, and run it out of the hatch when you need it, and save some time.. I just don't want to have it there due to the look, that I feel is not clean and don't want it to get caught or damaged on anything!!

I searched locally for about two days, then I said screw it and ordered online through Amazon... Figure might as well get it on order... not like I'll find it any cheaper locally anyways... lol... And since I have Prime, I only had to wait two days for it, but the last one I ordered for my 98 through Amazon, only took like 4 days to ship to me without Prime (cause I hadn't learned of the awesomeness of Prime @ that time)!!

that particular harness is advertised for 97-01 only.

Yeah, I guess prior to 97 they had a different connector(s) used @ the rear of the XJ to tap into... I shared it for Splatterific since he has/had a 99, so it would work with this harness...

Just installed 2 of those 118354 harnesses from etrailer.com. Pricy at $64 but I started over with my wiring and wanted both xj's with hitches done the same. I found that although my 98 had a 4 pole plug hanging down the wiring was a mess. better to start over. I also rewired the trailer and after reading several articles, I grounded the trailer in 3 different spots. May be overkill, but I want the lights to work.
